Hi All,
I'm new to this list and Elecraft too - I've recently completed
building a "loaded" KX1 #731.
After building and aligning the KX1 with zero problems, I connected it
to both my 130+ ft "slinky dipole" strung-up in the attic of our
single-level home (with RG8X) and also my Cushcraft MA

I won the VICA Industrial Electronics national competition, the run-off,
and they sent me to Europe to compete for the US.) It's not the
prettiest, but it seems to work.
So the only oddity is that C44 is at one of the limits,

In addition to filtering various points mentioned in replies to your posting
it is normally essential that you feed the radio DC power direct from the
pickup battery via a suitable protection fuse. This minimises noise to and

Pierre,
I have learned that all long and/or sharp items should go in checked
baggage. Also, I leave time when going through security so I can go
back down to the ticket counters and check something that security is
concerned about, if need be.
I am amazed that I have seldom been questioned abo

Brian,
My recommendation is to build the SSB option first.
After the SSB option is installed, you can do all the filter alignments and
be finished with it so you can enjoy the receiver while building the KPA100.
The options that impact the base K2 alignment are the KSB2, K160RX and the
K60XV - so

connection and aligator clips on the other end to clip to the leads of the

Hi Paul,
We also offer the K60XV internal transverter interface option for the K2. It
has a separate low level output for the driving transverters and automatically
switches to that output from the K2's HF output when you select a transverter
band.
To correct for the 100 Hz offset go into th

Yes if you install the KX60M option then the switching is not required on the
antenna because the K2 RF is not required to drive the transverter. The drive
comes from the low level output on the KX60M not the K2 finals. The K2 output
circuit is turned off when the transverter is selected on

Hi
It really does not matter with one exception The KPA100 and 60M option require
removal of the heat sink on the K2. This is not something you want to do many
times because of the possibility of damage to the thermal pads or loss of the
hardware stack on the output transistors. I would suggest

required the use of an external or separate switch that w
