I have recently replaced my CW Xtal Fiter set and done a realignment using
Spectrogram. I'm now attempting to measure my selected filter bandwidths and
using the -6dB points, is this incorrect ?
Is -3dB now the preferred or accepted points for BW measurement specs?
Why is there some apparent conf
Hi Fred,
The K2 has this delay function built into its firmware. Look up '8R
Hold' in the current manual. Once enabled in the menu it will keep 8R
(and the Keyout line on the KPA100) keyed as long as the keying hang
time is set for.

I hope I have not caused any confusion, BUT ...
I have been refering to the classical filter 'corner frequency' as the -3 dB
point, which does place the upper 'physical corner' seen on the display at
400 to 500 Hz. Perhaps I should change my text to clarify.

I use the keying adapter output on my K2 to key an antenna
relay in my 160m vertical. You can set the release
dealy in the menu system on the K2 for whatever
delay you want, within reason. Check it out.

Thanks for the tips. The K2 PA Keyout line to the Tokyo Hy-Power "Send"
input works perfectly for putting the linear amp into transmit mode. I set
the T-R delay to .75 for a good delay time when sending slow code.
Thanks for all the replies.

Hey, I just figured that out. 20K and 0.01 detect fine at a decent
bandwidth, but it's output is average envelope power. You are absolutely
right that I'm detecting AM. It sort of sounds like a voice when I talk, but
when I whistle, it's just a constant 3v out. Not gonna work without an
oscillator.

Yes! Thanks Jessie.
A small movement of the RIT pot and the PLL Osc range BAND+/BAND- worked
with stable reading except when RIT was full +ve.
I am still a little concerned as the + reading is 12099.1 and the - reading
actually 12078.4 so the range is over 20kHz and well outside the specified

Another idea.
Why not some sort of RF-probe circuit? It would look just like the RF probe
in the book, but with different component values to get the time constant
down. The RF probe in the book gives about a 100 Hz bandwidth which isn't
enough (I'd want at least 5K for SSB audio testing).
