Hi Adi,
You could be right. But keep smiling, K2/100 is in hospital here and
doctors are looking at Ostrich, C.Condor and GORILLAS. Patient doing well.
Your information very useful.

Hi, all concerned:
1. I've been trying to respond to an individual, Bill in 2-land, who has my
ISP-chain somehow blocked.
So, let it be known throughout the reflector:
Your package is on its way, UPS-gnd-insured.
My thanx to *all* who responded.
2. Has anyone attached the K2 audio or i-f
I am almost done assembling #3108. During the 40 meter Transmitter
Alignment (page 72) the radio is drawing 2.2 amps for 10w power. The manual
says much higher than 2 A is a problem. Is 2.2 a problem?

Gordon,
2.2 Amps is probably OK - it is only 10% above the nominal, and that is
within the range of acceptable tolerance for an assembly of 5% tolerance
parts.
The power output measurement may be off a bit (especially if you are using
an external wattmeter), and if your output is really 11
be grateful to all who helps me with the pll click problem of my k2,thanks to
Don/W3FPR,Tom/N0SS and Gary/KI4GGX.
Apologies for a typing mistake that my ref osc's frequency is 12090.36,not
12096.36 while voltage=0v,so the range is little more than 10khz.
however,it still clicks and pop
Having run my K2 as a QRP rig for about two years I had not noticed any
significant birdies on the bands that I operate. I recently started to use
the K2 with a KPA100 installed to improve my chances of contacts on 160m.
With power set to 100 watts I just switched to 30 meters to check the band
I decided to use a fully adjustable mini camera tripod for using the KX1 in the
shack. The tripod only stands 3 inches tall or so and it's plenty stable enough
for in-shack use...and looks very slick. The KX1 now sports a perfect 45 deg
angle and sets on there like a masterpiece painting.

You must be a subscriber to post to the
Heil Proset. They sound great, have the cool phase reversing feature
and fit quite well.
And, they come with a pretty good microphone also. ;-)
I'm sure Lisa at elecraft could set you up with some just perfect for
use with your Elecraft radio...

I went with the Heil Quiet Phone headphones. See:
http://www.heilsound.com/amateur/quiet_phone.htm
I have no real need for a mic and didn't want to pay extra for it. They go
for abt $90 and do a bang-up job. GL, take care es...

Hank and the group,
One of the worst feeling headphone arrangements is any of the old hard
phones from military or 1950's ham days without cushions. The rubber
cushions that completely covered those types of phones used to be sold by
Allied Radio, and made by Trimm or one of the other headphone

I'm sure we would all be interested in more technical detail. Presumably
it is a timing issue.

Also, the current drain depends on your input voltage. With a slightly
drained battery showing 11.9 volts on the K2, my current drain on 40M is
about 2.2 Amps. At 13.8 volts (showing 13.0 on the K2), it is 2.0.

I'll have to second Jims opinion.
They do allow ambient room noise in, but you can actually forget you
have these headphones on.

FYI,
Robert I just replace the RF control when I did the SMD Indicator mod.
The RF control started to act like a squelch whenever I touched it or bumped
it when turning the dial. Had to leave it in it's wide position. After
replacing
it, things are back to normal.
take care

Bob,
If the RF gain control changes the number of LEDs on the S-meter reading, it
is functioning properly.
Now, with that said, yes you MAY have the AGC Threshold set incorrectly. As
long as AGC action is present, the audio level should be more or less
constant - that is its proper
