John and all,
The best way to determine a radio's capability to retain settings or
alter its default behavior is to read the Menu Settings. If you don't
have the latest manual, but you do have updated firmware, you will need
to download the latest manual from the Elecraft website.

THANKS Alan for the heads up on the manual.
Love the keyboard on the back panel, and the sensor? Any ideas?

This appears to be a very standard form factor product; you can find

dozen or more different manufacturers. It is a standard battery for use in UPS

Vacuum relays can be quite good, as can a proper traditional relay, but all
are only as good as the designer's ability to understand ground loops.
All isolation shortfalls come from either the wrong style relay, or a bad
layout with ground loops or crosstalk between RF conductors. Many of the

Both have connectors on a single flat plate with a design for radically
flowing shield currents from the center common point.
That should, of course, have been radially flowing currents and not
radically flowing currents. Darn auto-correct.

Gil,
I assume you are using this preamp with the K3 equipped with the KXV3 or

Take a look at the rendering on page 3 of the PR-6 manual, and make it
look just like that.

As a former HP/Agilent engineer I agree. Originally the P3 defined REF

As a guy who had a hand in buying and/or specifying the purchase of millions of

how to pronounce it) and who used a lot of it, I also think the reference

But why not a spectrum analyzer mode and a

A panadaptor ain't a spectrum analyzer, strictly speaking, and I knew I would
have to change my way of thinking.

Jack,
Welcome to the K3 family. I got mine in early January (Serial #3799). But, I
can't imagine using the same radio for 22 years. Of course, my total ham radio
operator time is only 7 years: one year as a Novice in 1965/1966 and 6 years
as a Extra beginning in 2004. But, I am looking
