Thanks for those notes, Geoff. It did cross my mind that I would probably
need some home to site link to avoid continuous transmission and switch

start this would be an additional challenge for the battery supply and

My wife completely surprised me at Christmas by buying me a K3/100. I had asked
for donations toward the K3 fund on my Christmas list. Of course, it arrived
three days late.
I spent about six hours doing the assembly. Unfortunately, my two dummy loads
are 100 miles away, so I can't do the TX
This is as short as I can make it. When I first noticed the difference in the
K3 meter reading compared to my DVM, I wondered if I needed to calibrate
something, and I wondered if the K3 meter was linear. The answer is; no, and
can't tell.

When I run the W2 interface the display is stuck in the upper left hand

Did you check the battery voltage? This sound rather like a problem I
experienced when on an adjustable PSU - I later found the voltage from the PSU
was low (although I haven't yet checked the K3 is still ok).

Click on the setup button on the screen and click on always on top, then

David,
Thanks for quick answer!
I operated using car battery. Voltage was about 12.3V and during
transmition sometimes decreased to 11.x. But in October I have been using
also 12V battery working a few hours from the beach and had no problem.
However thank you so much for your advise. I will check
Some clarity, that setup option is in the W2 application.

Changing from always on top and back makes no difference. I agree that it
must be something in the Acer display but I can't figure out what it could
be for the life of me.

Bill,
A VGA extension cable has several of the pins connected together (I
believe all the shields). Is that possibly the problem?
You can buy DE15HD cables that have all 15 pins routed end to end, but
that is not a VGA extension cable.

Hi Bill,
If you Google VGA plug wiring you'll see that not all pins are connected and
some are shorted together. That's probably the reason for it not working.
You probably need a DB15 straight through male to female extension cable,
not a male/female VGA cable. You can purchase 15 pin straight

I am in need of advice. I have the newer iPad 2 and am having no luck getting
it to work with the KX3 using the iSDR app. I am using the Griffin external
sound card and basically doing what the uTube video I Googled is doing but all
I am seeing is noise, no stations and the iPad has no control
You need more than the Griffin to get the iPad to control the radio.
You also need a computer to radio interface such as the PigTail from
Pignology.net which uses wireless networking to talk to the iPad.
I too had trouble with the Griffin but chalked it up to cheap cables I
bought from China

I have it working with only the following:

- Apple Camera Connectivity Kit
- iPad 2
I can't remember exactly why but I ended up hacking together my own cable
from the Griffin to the PC. But it's still a simple stereo audio cable.
