Hi guys
Yesterday someone contacted me and pointed out that all the KX3 stands

paddle to be fitted. He suggested that not everyone uses the Elecraft
paddle, and of course not everyone uses CW (surely not??!!). For those folk
Now that I have an SVGA for my P3, I'm playing with TEXT DECODE, since it

I'd appreciate help with a macro to quickly turn TEXT DECODE on and off.

Dave,
I have 200 Hz and 400 Hz filters in my K3. My K3 copies RTTY fine through the
200 Hz filter. That being said, I normally use the 400 Hz filter unless the

Gang,
I never thought I'd do this, but I'm selling my Elecraft K1 4-band QRP

mostly portable for hundreds if not thousands of contacts. Includes KAT1

I haven't found a command to manipulate text decode. This is why the K3 Utility
terminal page requires you to set up the digital mode or CW.

My first thought on seeing that was If that filter is such a great idea,
wouldn't it be built into the RTTY demodulator to begin with?

My initial design for a KX3 carrying case doesn't provide
suitably-sized space to carry the new KXPA100 amplifier.
I now have a new design that -does- allow a KXPA100 to

This may seem like a dumb question. So be it. Exactly how do I hook a larger

Hi George.
I use a KX3 with a KPA500 as my everyday rig.

Chris,
You don't have to go to STBY and send a dit for a band change to avoid hot
switching. When the need to bandswitch is detected, the KPA500
automatically goes to BYPASS, performs the band change, and then switches
itself back in line all within a small fraction of a second.

Subject: [qfox] KX-3 features
Hi everyone. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
I know I've seen this posted but can't pull it up..
How does one know if your K3 is capable of powering the P3? Is there a
specific serial number or a specific rev level or something?
Thanks.
Larry, KN8N
All K3s are capable of powering the P3 ... however, if you order
the P3SVGA it will come with a modification kit to increase the
current available from the K3 Switched +12V to power the P3SVGA.
See K3MDKIT here:

The K3 will power the P3. Older K3s will need a mod to increase
power output from 1/2 amp to 1 amp if the P3 has a SVGA board.
The mod is included with the SVGA. See http://www.elecraft.com/order_form_parts.htm#K3%20Parts.
It works very well.

Rather than lithium ion I'd use AGM batteries. I had four of them in my motor

last a long time, and are perfect for a green solution. I

I used a Pelican 1610. I think I paid about $170 about 4 or 5 years ago.
It holds the K3 and P3 side by side with a good amount of padding all

Research PS in there also.
