That is not standard operation, but the band buttons can be set to skip
any selected bands the owner selects. Perhaps you have configured 60
meters out of the band rotation.

I've down several times with my FT-817ND and never had an issue. Just make
sure you can power it on if they ask, and keep your license work it, and
you should be fine.

Coincidentally, I just got Skimmer running for first time this weekend, from
the IF of my K3.
You dont need to sweat the sound card sampling rate if you run it off the
IF. The CW Skimmer software in the K3 IF mode only processes +/- 12 khz

A very simple and unexpensive solution that I use is:
- IF-softrock connected to the K3
- ASUS xonar D1 soundcard capable of 192kHz sampling, but a 96kHz rig
will do
- Software: LP bridge and NAP3-sdr
I connected the skimmer to a LP bridge internal comport, did the same
with N1MM
When I go split and try to listen to the sub rx audio - 9 times out of 10
its dead . If I just cycle power - its there and will stay there and N1MM
will enable/disable sub rx as well.
What did I miss ?

Check what antenna are you using in the SUB RX, if you don´t have a AUX
antenna you must select MAIN antenna on SUB RX also

I have that exact setup: K3/KX3--KPA500--KAT500--Multiple antennas. Works
very well. I went by the guide picture in the Kady book for the KX3. I use a
two position coax switch between the K3 and the KX3. Do you have Fred Kady's

Check *every* connection in your antenna system - or better yet, re-do
all the connections. If you have any purely mechanical connections that
are not soldered, those are suspicious.
Connections with wire nuts are *supposed* to be gas tight, but in
outdoor conditions they usually are
