 We're right on the edge.

I dunno about you guys, but I'm sick of the Luna cycle. A lot of people
are getting bored. We want to work on cool new features and do fun
innovative stuff again. We want to get back to doing what we do best.

My question is: Do we have any really good reasons not to release Luna as
soon as possible? We already have a lot of people using Luna as their
production environment and they're very happy doing so. How many of the
beta3 bugs can actually be fixed post-release?

A newer Webkit, Clutter, GTK, and many other big libraries are waiting for
us in Luna +1. If we hang back too long trying to stabilize, we're going to
fall behind with things like animations, multi-touch support, etc.

So what I'm saying is, let's polish this bad boy off so we can have some
 fun again.

Regarding Noise, I'm reliably hitting a very annoying bug pictured in

it's a show-stopper and a beta-blocker.

On a side note, I'm back from NYC but will be dealing with uni so I'll be
away from serious hacking till the end of the month at least.

Holy Crap!

We seriously have only 15 bugs stopping us from beta1. We're on the edge.
We could do it this month. The most anticipated beta release in all of free

Maya has 1 bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maya/+bug/1016211

Greeter has 1 bug, which is waiting on a merge request:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/pantheon-greeter/+bug/1000463

The rest are OS bugs.

As always, track it here:

[Elementary-dev-community] Luna Update

2012-09-13 Thread Daniel Fore
Hey Guys,

Time for another update on the status of Luna! Let's check the milestone:
https://launchpad.net/elementary/+milestone/luna-beta1

Contractor has 1 bug
Files has 6 bugs
Granite has 1 bug
Maya has 3 bugs
Noise has 6 bugs
LibPantheon has 1 bug
Pantheon greeter has 1 bug
Pantheon plugs has 1 bug
Slingshot has 1 bug
Switchboard has 2 bugs

That's a total of 23 bugs left until we can release beta. Between all of us, we
have this under control! Let's see if we can be beta-ready before the end of
the month ;)

If you don't see your app on this list, you should double check your beta1
milestone and see if you need to make a release. Afterwards, Please stop
development on your app and help another app hit their beta1 milestone. If we
all help each other out and pool our resources, we can knock this milestone out
in no time at all and start work on beta2.

Thanks again everyone and happy hacking!--

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone for their hard work and send out a
gentle reminder not to reach too far. We're working towards a *beta*
milestone. Everything that is essential should be targeted already. Don't
let anyone pressure you into targeted new features. Let's get the big
blocking bugs knocked out so we can move to the next stage. We've already
planned to do a Beta2 milestone and remember that we can always push out
 new features mid-Luna+1-cycle as well.

If your project is not listed here, that means you have 0 bugs targeted
to the Luna Beta1 milestone! I'm sure developers from the above projects
would really appreciate it if you would take time to help them achieve
 their goals for Luna Beta1.

 Thanks again everyone!

2 bugs now; I've untargeted

not a beta-critical item.

As far as Contractor goes,
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kjpIHASnkcFnbzFp_Hs5ikeciK_t4YVdZfn4WCKai4c/editstill
stands. So maybe we'd better reschedule
https://bugs.launchpad.net/contractor/+bug/1004116 to beta2 too since it
won't make much difference either and focus on getting an awesome
Contractor for beta2.

So out of current beta1 list, only
https://bugs.launchpad.net/contractor/+bug/1025280 is a blocker.

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone for their hard work and send out a gentle
reminder not to reach too far. We're working towards a *beta* milestone.
Everything that is essential should be targeted already. Don't let anyone
pressure you into targeted new features. Let's get the big blocking bugs
knocked out so we can move to the next stage. We've already planned to do a
Beta2 milestone and remember that we can always push out new features
 mid-Luna+1-cycle as well.
 Contractor has 4 bugs
 Files has 5 bugs
 Gala has 2 bugs
 Granite has 6 bugs
 Maya has 3 bugs
 Noise has 12 bugs
 LibPantheon has 1 bug
 Pantheon Greeter has 6 bugs
 Slingshot has 8 bugs
 Switchboard has 4 bugs
 Wingpanel has 1 bug
If your project is not listed here, that means you have 0 bugs targeted to
the Luna Beta1 milestone! I'm sure developers from the above projects would
really appreciate it if you would take time to help them achieve their goals
 for Luna Beta1.

 Thanks again everyone!
