Mirko,
this is all getting very muddy now that there is an APEC MRA on Telecom
requirements
and an APEC MRA on Product Safety in the offing. Combine that with Korea

You're singing to the choir now! I was ecstatic when fiber came up. Pictured

Michael a share of the problem does belong to the transceivers and cables.
Good signal integrity work up to the transceiver is a must. But the
To All,
Thanks to all who responded for your views and experiences regarding EMI
phenomena related to fiber optics.
You confirmed my intuition. I do not have first hand experience with these
beasts, so this gives me ammunition in dealing with problems early as we get
into this type circuitry.
I think this is a lot like the fable about belling the cat (where the
mice decide it would be nice if the cat wore a bell, so it could not
sneak up on them). All the mice agreed it was a great plan, until one
old spoil-sport asked who was going to bell the cat. What I'm saying is

What an interesting discussion!
As many others, I suspect, I believed that the CE mark was extended to
cover the LVD (and possibly other safety requirements) in order to permit
use of a harmonized standard rather than various national ones.
Well, I've been wrong before, so it would be no
Arun:
I heartily agree with everything you said. Well done!
It will not be easy to sell this idea to the emc world.
When the standards are vague, acane and constantly-changing, and when it is
unnecessarily expensive to set up and perform a test, this constitutes what
is known in
Good luck.

Hello Lou,
A one stop hit site for a world wide listing of EMC standards is a very good
idea!!
Australia and New Zealand have adopted generally all IEC/CISPR and
IEC/CENELEC standards in their original form and these standards are
published as AS/NZS ..Number eg. CISPR 22 is AS/NZS 3548.
Hello Peter,
I hope I can add some usefull information:

It is my understanding that, in the near future, this will change the way

Dear Robert,
You need to refer to the APEC MRA documents and also country specific
documents/rules on how they are implementing the various phases of this
MRA.. Not all APEC members signed the MRA but one of them is Korea. The APEC
MRA can be found at http://www.tsacc.ic.gc.ca/MRA/;. The
