We have Velcro on the the styrofoam cosmetic panels supplied in our chamber.
It works OK if you use lots of Velcro and the tile surface is very clean.
I think the chamber vendor used acetone to clean the tile before applying
the Velcro strips. Velcro is not really an inexpensive option (go to

I have had good results by applying styrofoam sheets to the walls.

Kyle,
My response would be .08 inch minimum type size for the letter height in
the laser label. per the Informative Annex B of ANSI Z535.4.
RATIONALE/BASIS:
Section 4.7.1 of the American National Standard Z136.1-1993, Safe Use of
Lasers states Design of Signs. Sign dimensions, letter size
Scott,
You can buy wallpaper made to cover uneven walls. When applied it will
produce a nice white wall, which can be painted, wallpapered of left alone.
This is what was recommended by my chamber manufacture, and is what I plan
to do.
Al Patrick, Sr. EMC Engineer - EMC Lab Manager,
We have been considering adding some type of white, light weight, solid
covering using Velcro or similar techniques so that the covering is
removable. One thought has been ceiling tiles. Any suggestions?

I have a [brand name omitted to protect the guilty] hand scanner where the

Hi Peter:
Well, can you share how your compliant products (ie double insulated to earth
Class I products) comply at the transistor/earthed heat sink interface? Do you
have at least two layers of insulation where each layer meets the reinforced
insulation dielectric strength test requirements?
Mu metal with a very high permeability has always been used for shielding CRTs
from the effects of stray magnetic shields, essentially creating a very low
reluctance path. it is still used as far as I know.

Greetings,
We have been lucky in the past, but with the real estate crunch that comes
with smaller products, its getting more difficult to find space to apply a
warning label.
For example, a 'Class 1 Laser Product'.
Just how tiny can the text/graphics in a label be and still comply?
Kyle
To the group,
Can anyone recommend a paint or other (light colored) coating that can be
applied over ferrite tiles?
The lighting in the bat cave (shield room) is rather grim. It can be very
difficult to see when working inside of a cabinet. Photos of test setups

Hello from Tel Aviv:
I would say use for products destined for Europe (rated 230 V only) use IEC
127 fuses; for products destined for North America and Japan (rated 100-125
V) use UL Listed fuses; for wide voltage range products (100-240 V for
example) use UL Listed fuses. All this applies to

My comment: Who ever thought that a Federal Government, especially
the U.S. military, would be years ahead of private industry in its
distribution and availability of standards?

I would be interested in hearing from G-Strip test chamber users,
particularly anyone who has experienced inaccuracies in the 200-300 MHz
range.

Ed,
In response to your question I have a few points,
We use gauss meters (Walker, Magnetic Instrumentation) to measure the
strength of magnetic fields. A compass on the other hand is measuring the
direction or polarity of the field.

Just my old British 2d's worth but...
In my experience it is better to conform by the book to as much stuff as
you can. If this means fitting IEC127 fuses to 230V versions and UL248
fuses to 120V versions so be it.
Why? Because it gives you scope to get test labs to allow marginal
temperature
Our IEC/EN60065 safety standard (for audio product) requires this safety
fuse to comply with IEC127.

Rich,
How is the weather in San Diego?
Well,
The only way we have been able to get a a non IEC 127 fuse (in a product)
through Nemko certification to 60065 or 60950 is when the fuse is internal
to the unit and we add a label saying replace only with manufacturers part

Deflect 2 degrees?
Hmmm. The earth's magnetic field is around 50uT. To deflect the compass 2
degrees would take 1.7uT at a right angle, right? Therefore, you could set
a level of 1 uT residual magnetism for your testing requirement and have
some margin.
With that quantized number, you could
