According to the 1/30/02 bulletin that UL sent out, the change from UL
3101-1 to UL 61010A-1 is only a change in standard number and format. None
of the requirements have been changed. The purpose given was to more
closely align the UL standard number with the IEC standard number. UL

revisions through and including April 30, 2002.

I did a quick search on the UL web page. There is a STP (Standards
Technical Panel) project for UL 61010A-1. See
http://ulstandardsinfonet.ul.com/stp/active-stps.html. There are contact
names there.
It doesn't specify exactly what it is, but my guess is that it is for the
adoption of IEC

I hope that UL has not referenced EN 61010 in their version of IEC
61010:2000. This would deviate from UL's adoption of international
standards. BTW, with the publication of the UL 61010A series of standards it
appears that UL 3101-1 and UL 3111-1 may eventually be superceded. I suggest
