David,
Ah!! I see.
Kevin's original query asked about attenuation. I interpreted that as
signal attenuation and I fired it off to my colleague Ted, since that is
his bag (signal integrity). But, perhaps you are right and Kevin was
really inquiring about shielding attenuation, i.e.,
Hello All,
I am trying to compile a list of companies and locations that
have 10m Semi-Anechoic Chambers. Does anyone know of a
list that may exist or just please send me a note if you
have one?
Thanks,

Hello Everybody,
Haman Music Group has a Compliance Engineering position open for a
qualified and interested person. A brief description is as follows:
Harman Music Group is a leader in audio signal processing. We are a
division of Harman International, a Fortune 500 company.
Kevin,
I suspected that the formula may present a problem (it shows up ok on
our in-house network).
The formula is:
Rho = [1/(2*Pi*sigma*delta)]*[(1/rhob)+(1/rhoa)] in Ohms/meter
Where,
Rho is attenuation constant
Sigma is conductivity
Delta is skin depth
Rhoa is the radius if the inner
Hi Jim,
The equation that Ted supplied to you to pass on to us on the emc-pstc turned
invisible, at least for me. Would you be kind enough to type the equation out
and resend it so that those of us with the invisible equation can know what
Ted
was referring to?
Thanks

Hello Everyone,
We have several customers who are adamant in their demand for testing to the
Electrical Noise requirements of section 13.2 Shared DC Power of
Bellcore GR-499-CORE, Issue 1.
To anyone who has tested to these requirements, we are looking for
information on the method of performing
Gail,
My experience has been that there is no provision made for grandfathering in
older designs after the cutoff date, but this does not mean that previously
installed equipment needs to be removed from use. Also there are Articles
stating in effect that it was not possible to stockpile
Jeff,
I pass this along in hopes that it helps you with your question.

No complaint from me on the power cord, Matthias. You are correct. What is
TUV's official position on the colors of the internal primary wiring?

These TUV guys again.
Let me add this about the power cord:
The answer may be that we sometimes have to apply national standards. The GS
mark requires the use of such standards.
EN60950 references IEC227 for power cords. IEC 227 does not require a
specific color for line and neutral.

Hi Gail and Chris,
Chris, you are absolutely correct. There is no grandfather clause
in the sense that Gail's associate has indicated. There was in fact a
four year transition period for implementation of the EMC Directive
(from 1992 to 1/1/1996) during which
Jim, HD 384 does not cover the construction of equipment; rather it covers
the installation. So the colors specified are for building wiring and
flexible cables. The latter includes the mains flexible cable of equipment.

Each and every item is first placed on the market and each and every item
must comply with all of the applicable Directives in effect at that time.
Some items may be placed on the marked a second time - i.e., in the form
refurbished equipment. That is the distinction. First placed on the market

It's very simple, any goods placed 'on the market' after January 1st 1996
must comply
I think some of you are reading something into the standards that is not there.
The color of internal conductors is not specified beyond the well-known
green/yellow reserved to identify earthing conductors.
For equipment connected with a non-detachable power cord or provided with an

Hello Grant and All:
EN 41003, being titled Particular Safety Requirements for Equipment to be
Connected to Telecommunications Networks is just that. Therefor, if your ITE
plugs into the telephone network, it applies. If your ITE does not plug into
the network, it does not apply. EN 41003
Great!
Are the IEC and DIN standards mandatory for EN60950 equipment? What is
the scope of the above standards?

I am looking for a good rule of thumb regarding attenuation versus
shield coverage for a twisted shielded pair cable. Specifically what
level of attenuation change will be expected in going from a 85%
coverage to 90% coverage.
Thanks in advance

Tania: Thanks. I think your's is the correct answer, and it's
certainly the one I wanted to hear, so I'm going to run with it!
It makes sense, I think, in that wiring internal to a product (and not
in a user-access area) is only going to be seen by the factory and by
authorized service
