Emc2 loaded fine and I set up my machine but when I got to the screen to start
running the machine around there was a blob instead of a mouse arrow and it
wouldn't select anything. What am I doing wrong?

I am very happy with my Intel MJG4110H. Not once I got the dreaded
message that the machine cannot keep up the cycle rate. I have a full
blown PC that can play music, videos, display a browser and operate
the mill AT THE SAME TIME. I have a solid state disk in it too. It is
networked also.

Hi Ken,
That is a good idea!!! Isn't it possible to use a stepper motor as a pulse
generator? If so, wouldn't it be possible to variably bias that same stepper
to achieve the haptic feedback?
thanks for the idea

Hi Stuart,
If you are going to do some computer assisted hand tapping, you might
want to add some haptic feedback. If you measure the spindle current and
use that as a measure of load, you could drive a small servo connected
to the mpg and use it as a brake. If you make the braking force

Why don't you throw away your CDRom and use an USB key instead?
everything will go faster, and you don't have to wish that your laser
won't do any mistake!

Hi Don,
I really sounds like you have a bad burn of the 10.04 live CD or your
cdrom drive is having issues. I am not sure on the 8.04 messages,
perhaps using the dmesg command will provide more information ( or look
at /var/log/messages file to see what complaints you are getting on
booting)
cheers
I vote for bad disk. Try to check the disk using one of the menu choices.

Hi All;
To support the Mill upgrades to EMC2 I purchased
two D510MO with 2GB RAM each and the MI-100
chassis.
(If anyone is interested, the extra $12 and got a)
(temporature speed controlled fan cooled chassis)
(with two 4 inch wide slots and one 5.625 inch wide)

Thanks Colin. Your suggestions on how to proceed will be a useful roadmap for
me. You might be interested in this to save pins on the Arduino:

such a unit and the others don't support the additional inputs.

I think that You have managed to describe the process very well. I
feel like I understood it although I have never had any experience
with trying to use ethernet for this purpose. I would appreciate, if

Hi everybody
I just tossed a first version of the documentation on
HOW TO USE BECKHOFF EtherCAT with EMC2
into the linuxcnc wiki.
