Hi Thaddeus,
I second Chris on using Kicad. I just started with it a few weeks ago and
it's very good. Easy to use, lots of libraries and it's really easy to edit
or make new components in case you don't find what you want.

QElectroTech is a nice FOSS option too

Eagle works well, but many people have moved to KiCad. KiCad is 100% open
source and in the last few year KiCad has pulled ahead technically too.

Hi,
I need some advice on what program to use for creating machine schematics. I
am somewhat familiar with Autodesk Eagle for board design.
I”d also like cad drawings for the Mesa 7i96 if they are available.

I wired up the G0704 sensor to my Mesa 7i76/5i25 combo and use it with
Andy's Lincurve stuff for speed feedback. And full speed control via the
same combo.
I'll be mentioning some of this at a seminar at the upcoming CNC Workshop.
Some stuff on my blog - the Canadian name for the G0704 is

Is exactly what came with the machine. The wiring diagram is in it twice,

What is in the owners manual is way incomplete. Very close to Zip on the
speed control stuffs.

I second that recommendation - I've used proprietary packages that lack
features found in kicad.

Check out VIACAD from punchcad.
Very solid and scary cheap.

Gentlemen,
I would like to find software to create/document schematics for my
machines. I would like to have symbols and features to place where needed.
Is there anything out there?
Sorry if this has been addressed before.

Guys,
I use Eagle and would highly recommend it. They have a very active forum
with 1000's of archived messages. The free version will do PCB's up to 80 mm
X 100 mm with no other functional limitations.
I did find the learning curve to be pretty steep especially for creating
libraries and devices

You have several programs right there on Linux: kicad and xcircuit for
