What modal value would effect G76's ability to properly calculate the

Does your encoder have quadrature (two 50 ppr channels)? This mode only
uses one, and gives you 50 counts per rev, using quadrature can give you
200 counts per rev, which should be smoother.
The encoder is a single channel and

Alex et al,
I just tried to install EMC to Hardy and am getting a similar if not the
same error. This is what appears to be wrong:
insmod: can't read '/usr/realtime-2.6.24-19-generic/modules/rtai_hal.ko': No

There is no /usr/realtime-2.6.24-19-generic folder. I checked
Thanks for the info guys.
I'll try to install the latest version (I'm still at 2.2.0) and check to
which speed/accell I can get the Z axis, but I'm afraid I won't get much
higher (running 230 steppers on xylotex and sherline (1mm thread)).
Would you specialists recommend using the precompiled

Hi all,
Found it. With the Hardy install, it does not set the rtai kernel as the
default kernel. So by default it is booting the ...-19-generic kernel. The
rtai kernel must be explicitly selected at boot time in order to run EMC.

Gentlemen,
Install one of the GRUB editors and take care of the problem.
Lots easier than trying to edit the menu.lst file.

Hi,
I keep reading that I need to $ . scripts/emc-environment
I have tried typing this into a terminal and it gives an error. I have
tried it in various directories as well.
Where exactly do I need to be?
I'm confused and wondering if I am missing something.

Presumably you aren't typing in the $ (you shouldn't, if you are)
This is only needed

When asking about an error, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS include the error!
If it is a command line command that is failing, also include the
