The WYSE Sx0 thin clients can boot off a server, but then there would be no point in trying to use one as a CNC controller.Running a Linux not provided by the manufacturer can be a bit tricky.http://www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/wyse/s10/Linux.shtml But that was written a couple of years ago, or m

Given enough RAM in the thin client machine you can boot of the network and don't have any storage at all on the client. I once worked at a company where many of the desktop machines for office workers had zero local storage and all user files and the OS were stored on a file server. It was fast

I'm looking at small Linux distros based on Debian Wheezy and Lubuntu Precise. Lubuntu 12.04 has a non-PAE kernel available, but is there a non-PAE RTAI kernel? If not, then I guess that nixes putting LCNC on a WYSE Sx0 thin client, or most any of the x86 thin clients from the 2010's and older.

I wouldn't use a SD card as main storage. SD cards are slow. I used to use CompactFlash cards before SSDs became affordable and they are pretty slow as well. You can get laptop IDE to SATA adapters. That would allow you to fit an SSD. Ideally you want an adapter with a male connector so you can

So it looks like perhaps only the 7.5kW model is the new GT series. I don't need anything near that big so if I go with the Huanyang I would be getting the model that uses the existing driver. Looking at the driver docs and code, it looks like there is no way to request the motor load. However sin

I decided to check the part numbers on the Apacer IDE flash disks in my 3 WYSE S30 thin clients, after flashing the last Windows CE 6.0 update on the newest one shrunk its storage space from 128 meg to 64, and resetting the other two to factory defaults so Dekstop mode could be used *increased*
