the ibar window popup thing doesn't have any options really... it's pretty
simple.

[e-users] Dual Monitor, IBar showing limited Tasks

2019-11-21 Thread Brian via enlightenment-users
Running 0.22.4 is there anyway to get the IBar Task Widget and the
middle mouse button to show all tasks running on both monitors?

At this time I have to run a separate IBar on both monitors to see all
tasks running.

:) in this case you don't need to set up the sgv.. already happened. you'd need
debugging info tho...

FYI i use multi monitor all the time and have for decades and it's working for
me (in x11 - not wl - not ready yet there).

[e-users] Dual monitor

2018-12-29 Thread Peter Flynn
I have just added a second monitor to my test system running E19 from
ppa:niko2040/e19 under Mint 19. It SIGSEGVs immediately on login.

I logged out and logged back in using Cinnamon, and used their GUI for
Displays to configure it: the primary monitor is landscape and the
secondary monitor is portrait (able to display a full page of A3).

If I log out and log back into E, it immediately SIGSEGVs.

What are my options here?

What log files should I be looking for clues in?

Is there an updated prebuilt e+terminology available as a .deb from
anywhere else?

Re: [e-users] Dual monitor each with distinct desktops

2013-03-15 Thread Bernard Tremblay
But it makes the desktop behave strangely.  On the right screen,  if I
move the mouse to the right edge, the right desktop is switched to
desktop 2 on screen2, the desktop 1 of screen 2 is move to the left  but
behind the current desktop of screen1...
So I have 2 desktops that want to show on the left monitor but I see
only the one on front...  Strange behavior isn't ?  I would expect the
desktop from the right screen to move on the left screen.  I understand
that screen1 can be a different size that screen2, but it brings a
counterintuitive desktop move.   Same counterintuitive thing happen when
I bring the first desktop back on the right monitor.  The desktop that
was under the left desktop suddenly appears on front of the left desktop
and the animation move it to the right monitor... I'm sorry but it
confuses me!

The model should be  Virtual Screen --> Desktop --> Monitors instead of
Virtual Screen --> Monitor --> Desktop .

Is there anything that we can do to improve this behavior ?  I have to
check, but I 'd say  KDE and Gnome have exactly the same problem with
desktop managing vs 2 external monitors.

no. you get NxM desktops per screen. that's how the code works. :) reason:
screens can be different sizes, so now a desktop will change size depending
which screen it displays on. also how do u handle the case where a user wants
to display the3 same desktop on BOTH screens at once? you can't. so it's just
too problematic.

Re: [e-users] Dual monitor each with distinct desktops

2013-03-14 Thread Bernard Tremblay

I have a laptop that I use at work with 2 external monitors or,
 sometime
at home or on the road, with only the laptop display.

When I start Enlightenement at work I execute a script that call xrandr
to set the display on the 2 external monitors otherwise I let it use
 the
 laptop screen.

Now, the problem I'm facing is that the multiple desktop seems to be
associated with each of the screens. I use to have 4 desktops on my
display, so when at work, I have 4 desktops on the left display and 4
other desktops on the right display. Is there way to configure E17 to
keep the desktops common for both externals display ? I would like to
have 4 desktop shared for all monitors.

The screen script does the following actions with xrandr when I'm at
 work :

 xrandr --output VGA1 -s 3840x1080
 xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1920x1080
 xrandr --output HDMI2 --mode 1920x1080
 xrandr --output HDMI2 --right-of VGA1

 Regards,

Re: [e-users] Dual-Monitor Setup not working with current e17

2012-04-06 Thread ml
Many thanks,

actually the problem was the missing xinerama support in ecore. I seem to
have missed the output of ecore telling me of it.
I installes the development libs of xinerama and recompiled. And now it
works as expected.

Regards
Marco

[e-users] Dual-Monitor Setup not working with current e17

2012-04-06 Thread ml
Hi,

I have e17 running with a Matrox G550 and two monitors connected to
it. I never had a problem with prior e17 versions. Always e17 recognized
the dualhead setup and provided a different screen on each monitor (for
example the working version I am running is 0.16.999.55225).

But the current e17 from svn always uses both monitors as _one_ screen. All
popups appear in half/half on both screens. I didn't find a way to
configure it. This problem exists at least since a few months.

Can anyone tell me, what is wrong here? Is it a bug in the current e17? Is
this a feature and I need to configure it?

In case it is needed as reference, I append my xorg.conf to this mail that
shows my multiple monitor setup.

Thanks in advance
Marco
