I too do all my web pages with NOTEPAD  Glad to see you do to.

One question.  I cannot figure out how to save a file in NOTEPAD with no
data extension.  As it is, I have to save with a manually typed in .html
extension or it makes it a TXT file.
I want my web pages to be just "... FrankenVolt" and not
"...FrankenVolt.html"

Everyone elses web pages no longer have the .html extension.  How?

Since this is a list of tinkerers and DIY-ers, I'll suggest some 
software for editing websites. It's Bootstrap Studio. Basically, it's a 
visual CSS & HTML editor where you can see the effects of your changes 
immediately. It comes with a nice set of CSS constructs and default 
values, which you can use or not use as you like. It also is properly 
"responsive." It generates a bunch of files - very minimal in size - 
which you can upload to your webserver. I have no connection to the 
company and am not promoting this. I just want to share it as an option 
for those interested.


I, too, like simple websites that don't make my cpu fan run :)

Bob, best to you and a continuing thanks to your contributions to EVDL, 
which I always appreciate reading.

[EVDL] Actual Miles per KWH AC

Hi folks
I was checking my new 260 mile range Bolt charger/battery efficiency at the 
outlet and the car showed 38.4kwh for 186 miles charged.  The OpenEVSE.com 
showed 41kwh real usage or 4.5 miles per kWh at the outlet.  The EV display was 
4.8 miles per kWh so that’s a 6.3% charging/battery loss.  That’s much better 
than my conversions from the 70s through 00s that had typically a 10% loss.  I 
spend my weekends now doing volunteer solar installations.  A lot more results 
For labor than converting EVs.

I'm with you on that one!  Being a little paranoid, I run with Javascript 
off unless I really trust the website (and there aren't many of those). 

The plus of this is that all those pages with dozens of trackers and ad 
scripts load a LOT faster.  

The minus is that sometimes Bruce's EV news links don't work for me.  I get 
partial or no text, missing or useless images, images that spill off the 
page, images that overlay text, links that don't work, and sometimes a 
totally blank page. 

It sucks, but since probably 2/3 of the EV news pages copy and paste from 
each other, I can usually find the same information somewhere else. :-)

As much as I despise them, I can kind of understand the trackers and ads, 
but I just don't get why a simple news site needs all the other junk. Why 
does almost every link have to be a Javascript function? And what's the deal 
with these tiny 20x20 (or whatever) images scaled up to page size so they're 
just a blur?  What's wrong with a clickable link on a thumbnail?  That 
worked great for, what, 15 years of the web?  My browser still has a back 
button. 

If you know what you're doing with web coding, it doesn't take that much 
more time to make a page that degrades gracefully with older browsers and 
without Javascript.  I don't see what the problem is here.  

I'm not saying there's a connection, but I swear, as factory EVs' utility 
has increased, the usability of the websites about them has fallen off at 
roughly the same rate.

That's Awesome.  Once Lowes opens their level-3 charger in Quartzsite I'll 
finally be able to drive an EV into California in a reasonable amount of time.  
Currently the only fast chargers between Phoenix and California are Tesla 
superchargers.
