I think he means that some POP3 clients allow you to enter whatever you want
as your from and reply to information.
As opposed out Outlook MAPI, which most definitely does not.

I have an interesting behavior we've noticed here. I'm wondering if this
is due to some glitch in our set-up, or if anyone else is experiencing
this as a more generalized behavior.
In this situation, we are running Exchange 2000. No server side send
as permissions have been granted; only delegate
Sounds about right.. 'on behalf of' is really an Exchange-ism which
doesn't have a direct parallel per se in the relevant RFCs AFAIK.

Hello,
I have users who send on behalf of the president of our company. The users
request a read receipt for every message that is sent on behalf. Since we upgraded to
exch2000 the read receipts no longer go to the person sending on behalf of the
president they are only sent
Hi,
I have a few users who map to a single mailbox. With that said I have
granted them 'Full mailbox rights' to that mailbox however when they
send mail as that mailbox they are told they 'do not have permissions'
I then went and gave them 'send on behalf' rights and that resolved it.

Are they supposed to have send as or send on behalf of rights? If it's
the former, do they have that right granted explicitly?

Hey:
Just got off the phone with MS PSS. If you install the 811853 OR the
813840 post SP3 roll-up you WILL have to specify the 'Send on behalf
rights'. The + thing is you can remove the roll-up through 'Add/remove
Programs' and you will go back to normal unless you really need that
post sp3 fix

That use to work for us too! But last weekend I applied the Store

This doesn't work like I want to... I do not want to make people co-owners

They will need to then reply from that mailbox. I have set these people as

This doesn't work like
Send as permissions are not the same as send on behalf of.

The phrasing of the question and terms used based on the question as asked
are ambiguous. Delegate permissions is sufficient for 'send on behalf of'
rights, if that checkbox is marked. Send As permissions are another set of
permissions and can only be granted via the Exchange admin.

I'd never noticed before that making someone a delegate puts their name in the
Exchange Admin delivery options screen. However, if that's how it gives the delegate
send on behalf of rights, then maybe it's subject to the standard Exchange Admin two
hour delay.
