So then now maybe he is trying to access it from home on his laptop now he wants to somehow be able to use his domain name www.domain.com to get to his OWA server with out the long drawn out line. So now he's testing at home testing his connection to his OWA server at his www.domain.com and appears to be having some type of DNS issues regarding resolving to his domain so we have hopefully establish the connectin to Exchange since OWA relates to exchange and DNS issues can relate to both thus Tony's question potentiall relates to exchange How does it relate to Kevin Bacon? I suspect some one at the ISP or Tony company knows somebody that knows Kevin Bacon.thus resulting it the final potential connection to Kevin Bacon... bill -Original Message- From: Ed Crowley [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, March 26, 2003 9:45 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: domain name And that has to do with Exchange how? Is it on a Server and NOT workstation? (remember server only) 2.) Is the server part of the same domain as your exch server (did you join it to the NT domain - I seem to remember you are Exch55) 3.) Did you load the server with IIS at time of install? 4.) Did you patch the Server OS? ie use the Windows Update (this would/should patch IIS too) 5.) Are you logged into the server with an account with the correct admin rights? (administrator should do) 6.) Did you log into the domain and NOT the machine (domain) 7.) did you load Exch OWA and tell it your correct exch server name? 8.) Did you patch the server with Exch55OWA with sp4 9.) Did you reboot the IIS server? After all this which maybe not totally correct step for step...It should work.. It's pretty straight forward..Assuming you are not doing anything special with the IIS server etcpermissions..so on.. there are likely a bunch more way to set stuff up then above...but when in dough KISS it works pretty much out of the box, sound like maybe you skip a step somewhere... Now if you are going to expose it to the Internet..I would recommend you definitely read up on securing IIS and some on W2K prior to letting lose in the wild. 2 cents bill -Original Message- From: Tony Nguyen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, January 29, 2003 1:58 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: OWA Do I need to set anything for OWA to work? RE: eseutil
Thank everyone for the help. PSS has given instructions to run eseutil /p and it working. Here is the step from PSS for anyone who need it. It looks like your database has gotten corrupt. You will need to do a hard repair of the databases. I have listed the steps to follow below: 2) Stop all services 3) go to a command prompt and switch to the exchsrvr\bin directory 4) Run the eseutil /p against the Priv.edb (eseutil /p c:\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv.edb) 5) Run the eseutil /p against the Pub.edb (eseutil /p c:\exchsrvr\mdbdata\pub.edb) 6) Check the consistency state of both databases (eseutil /mh) 7) Start the IS. If it errors out with a -1011error. 8) Run ISINTEG -patch only if you get a 1087 or 1011 error. 9) Start IS 10) If IS starts, then stop the service again, leave the System Attendant and Directory running. 11) Run ISINTEG -pri -fix -test alltests. Run this command until it reports 0 errors 0 fixes or the same number of fixes and error twice. 12) Run ISINTEG -pub -fix -test alltests. Run this command until it reports 0 errors 0 fixes or the same number of fixes and error twice. 13) Start IS 14) At this point, we will need to defrag the databases before putting it back into a production environment. (eseutil /d /ispriv then esetuil /d /ispub from the exchsrvr/bin directory) This utility takes 3- 6 GB per hour -Original Message- From: Ed Crowley [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, December 03, 2002 11:07 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: eseutil Well, that would figure when you copy a corrupted database to another machine. If so repair them and then restore that clean database and let the log files backfill to make the repaired database current.
