RE: Installing Exchange Server through TS

You don't need to modify any registry key to do it. What is the exact error
you're getting?

Does anyone recall the registry key you have to modify to allow you to
install Exchange Server 5.5 while logged in though a windows 2000 Terminal
Session (admin mode)?

TIA

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't install Exchange 5.5 on Windows
2000. The only way you can have Exchange 5.5 on Windows 2000 is if you
had 5.5 and NT4 and you upgraded to Windows 2000.

Re: Installing Exchange Server through TS

2002-04-18 Thread Chris H

This computer must be a member of a domain to install

I am not logged in as the local account
I am logged in as a domain admin

I could swear I had this exact same problem with my last install and I had
to modify a registry key to add the domain name before it would install over
an admin TS connection

RE: Installing Exchange Server through TS

2002-04-18 Thread Chris Scharff

I've had the same problem as Chris H on a number of occasions.. I always
just groaned and logged in to the local console instead of using TS (and yes
I was logged in with an appropriate account and into the domain).

Sedar: I've added that registry key to my $0.99 notebook and will try that
in the next lab environment I set up.

Thanks 10x.

Aah that one. The key you need is:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon

And the value is DefaultDomainName. You need to change it from the computer
name to the domain the machine is in.
