I did find this artical earlier and all systems already have the correct

Thanks. This worked for me on the same issue, but I only had one user

Their passwords are about to expire. I have seen this a lot with Outlook

expire. Usually Ctrl-Alt-Del/Change Password, then Logoff/Logon does the
trick.

Subject: continuous prompt for NT domain credentials

I have users running Outlook 2000 on Windows 2000 desktops connected to
an
Exchange 2000 server on Windows 2000. Periodically the users will be
prompted to provie a user name, password, and domain name. However,
after
you provide this informtion, Outlook still repeatedly prompts you to
provide your credentials again. There is no error message. It does not
matter if you cancle that prompt or enter your information the prompt
will
reappear 5 - 10 times. You cannot work until you clear this prompt.

I have searched for Microsoft Articles ie - q312630, q218315, q321652
but
at this point none of these have helped.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you,
Nadine

RE: continuous prompt for NT domain credentials

2003-09-11 Thread Nadine
Andrey,

Actually at this point passwords are not set to expire on this network.
This will even happen to a new account that has just been setup. It seems
to be happening to all the users connected to this exchange server, not
just a select few.

RE: continuous prompt for NT domain credentials

2003-09-11 Thread Kelley, Jason
We're seeing the same issue on a small handful of our desktops. I
checked the same Q articles but no luck.

Exchange 2000 w/SP3 rollup hotfix v1 Windows 2000
Outlook 2002 SP2

3 out of 4 times the workaround was to uninstall then re-install Office.
This did not work for the 4th user. This 4th users password is not
about to expire.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks - Jason

Subject: continuous prompt for NT domain credentials

I have users running Outlook 2000 on Windows 2000 desktops connected to
an Exchange 2000 server on Windows 2000. Periodically the users will be
prompted to provie a user name, password, and domain name. However,
after you provide this informtion, Outlook still repeatedly prompts you
to provide your credentials again. There is no error message. It does
not matter if you cancle that prompt or enter your information the
prompt will reappear 5 - 10 times. You cannot work until you clear
this prompt.

I have searched for Microsoft Articles ie - q312630, q218315, q321652
but at this point none of these have helped.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you,
Nadine

I assume domain authentication is occurring correctly? Anything in the
security logs?

Yes, domain authentication is occurring correctly and there is nothing
unusual in the security logs.

RE: continuous prompt for NT domain credentials

2003-09-11 Thread Fyodorov, Andrey
Then probably the RFR or NSPI component of the System Attendant service
is misbehaving. RFR is in charge of arranging a meeting between a MAPI
client and a Global Catalog. For some reason such a meeting is not
taking place. Are there network issues between clients and domain
controllers?

By the way, which version of Outlook are they using? If it is 2000 or
2002, then RFR may be to blame.

Outlook 97 and 98 do not use RFR services, instead they rely on NSPI
proxy - the Exchange server talks to GC on their behalf. NSPI normally
uses randomly negotiated RPC TCP ports. Have there been any port
closures recently? There is a way to tell NSPI to only use specific
ports.

Sincerely,
