I have problems installing mandrake 7.1 from a nfs image. I get an error

I have been trying to get my Zip Zoom ISA card to work under Mandrake 7.1.
The 7.1 installer does not detect it at all, anyone know how to get this to

Well, now with mandrakeupdate 7.2-14 it work, but as root. When I try
as simple user, when kdesu asks me the password, the file isn't even
downloaded.
This seems still strange to me. Any idea what that can be?
