Jonathan Cahn attempted to make a big issue regarding the Shemitah (traditional Jewish 7-th years of rest or fallow for crops accompanied by a canceling of debts.) .He goes on to say that with this Biblical background, "God" has ordained an ongoing pattern that we (i.e. Cahn) can use for predictive purposes. Of course, predictions are easy when events have already occurred, but not so much when it applies to the future. In retrospect, Cahn seems to be a failure at prediction. Using the "magical" number of 7, one source claims that Brexit was evidence of God's Shemitah since it was 7 years, 7 mo, 7 weeks, and 7 days since Sept 29, 2008. Isn't it nice to rely on such convenient coincidences to prove the Word of God? Even more important, Cahn says that there's a Jubilee Shemitah of 7 * 7 years or 49,; which to his counting has already passed in 2016. Yet no earthshaking events. No nukes from N. Korea, no plagues, no fire and brimstone or financial disasters. Looks like Cahn's "God" is a lousy predictor of events, and Cahn is an even worse prophet. Then he says that people can repent and follow God's Word, or engage in Desecrations in which case God will judge us harshly. He brings up 3 Gay-bashing indicators that people in the U.S. have Desecrated God's word, in which case the Judgment of the O.T. "God" will be upon us: 1. Gay Marriage 2. The Rainbow associated with Gay rights. Cahn says that the Rainbow belongs only to God, not to the Gays. 3. A further desecration is the projection of the Rainbow onto the White House. (since somehow the White House is Godly). 4. Next, he says that the current administration has turned away from Israel. From these Desecrations and more, Cahn says we deserved a Collapse or Shaking that will force us turn back in Repentance to the O.T. God. In short, the term Shemitah refers to the 7 year, & 49 year cycles which Cahn believes are "proven" by downturns every 7 years in the economy. But we've already passed the 49 year Jubilee grand Shemitah and nothing much as taken placejust the usual background stuff. Fundamentalist/Evangelist Kirk Cameron had a theater get-together make possible by some new technology. He and others like him are providing an alternative model of reality that differs markedly from the MUM model. The division goes back a long time to the 2nd Century CE, with the Gnostics (the Quietists of that day, or Transcendentalists if you will); vs those oriented toward "external" revelation. Obviously in the popularity contest, we know who won out. In fact, Transcendentalism and the method to experience "it" (Gnosis or Self-experience) was considered anathema in the 2nd century (according to the Church "Fathers" like Jerome) and such practices are still considered heretical to people like Cameron. Why? Because if you're getting "Gnosis" or an experience of the Transcendent through a practice of interior revelation, then you're NOT getting it from an exterior source like the Bible or the Pope. Mainstream Christianity is still based on exterior evelation, not personal experience. Cameron was probably able to amass far more people "together" in theaters than anybody in FF could round up in a whole year. The onus is on those who think they know what's "Real" to make a better case. Sorry, but you've lost the popularity contest, by far. Thx,...I'm skeptical of the rationale and underlying assumptions beyond such overly broad topics such as "What is Real". What the presenter should do is jump right to the benefits of "transcending" in the first part of the lecture, then segue into the ontological discussions later (and keep those to a minimum). Would one of the conclusions be "Transcending will make you happy and TM is the preferred method of transcending". OK fine...let's see some evidence. Likewise, with the other claims. Will "transcending" offset bad karma. Will it make people richer?. How about curing diseases? Make some real substantial claims followed by some good uncooked data; with perhaps a few citations of peer reviewed research by somebody outside of the TMO or MUM. If the claims are true, people in vast numbers should be flocking to a practice that has specified benefits. Will "transcending" help one in the midst of a Zombie Apocalypse? Will it extend one's lifespan? (doesn't look like it in view of the stats coming from FF) .

Anyone can get the ID's, it's easy. No, it's not that easy for many people (especially low-income people, i.e., minorities). That's the whole point of the laws: make it more difficult for them to vote. The voter ID laws were designed to protect the integrity of everyone else's vote, not to suppress any other vote. The voter ID laws (and several other measures to limit voting, including less time for early voting, fewer polling places, etc.) were designed to suppress minority (Democratic) voters. Republican state legislators have openly admitted this, on the record. Voter ID laws are especially suspect because there is, as I keep saying, virtually no evidence of actual voter fraud. A candidate's announcement that he or she practiced TM, specifically, would tend to be a negative to the religious right and evangelicals generally. That's a very significant voting bloc in this country. The science-oriented among the millennials would likely be skeptical of a meditation practice associated with woo-woo like Yogic Flying or claiming widespread positive results from meditating in a group. BTW, if I were you, I wouldn't paint large groups of religious people as "rabid." On the way to the White House the identification of voter blocs becomes key to the work. In which blocs now would a candidate admitting to meditating be a negative? A positive? Yesterday in Fairfield, Iowa at a small shop we had a grocery bag stuffed with a X-ian flier insert that was all about TM being religion, cult and dangerous. Mindfulness practice maybe gets a pass and is not? Voter bloc, how much could confrontational conservative X-ians as a particular vote bloc matter anymore to a candidate now admitting they meditate for their own well-being? A 'meditating' candidate might be a plus to millennials. Can millennials and Gen-X and Y outweigh the shrinking rabid religious X-ian bloc in America? Would it be safe for any of the candidates to let it be known they meditate?
