For one thing, I was married LOL, not a TMer yet, living in College Park, MD and working full time for a construction related small business. Still smoking about a pack a day! I vaguely remember long lines at gas stations. Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: The Gas Buddy
I guess though, the dynamics are quite different in each case for what's accounted for the rising cost. With oil, I think the oil producing nations decided to restrict supply which drove up the price, at least initially, and with cigarettes, most of the price increase came in the last few years from taxes and to cover payouts from lawsuits. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, sharelong60@... wrote : And I think cigarettes were a lot less expensive than they are now. Maybe 25 cents a pack?
[FairfieldLife] Re: The Gas Buddy
Wow, especially with rampant inflation, those are rock-bottom prices. If the economy picks up, Chevron (California's oil co.) will announce they are, taking refineries off-line for maintenance, experiencing a supply disruption, and/or, reformulating the fuel, for Winter, and invariably jack up the prices. Funny, when they use such excuses, it conjures up a picture of Billy-Bob at the well head, with a truck, who has never seen a spreadsheet before, vs. the armies of business planners they employ, to deal with such contingencies.. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, punditster@... wrote : Valero 895 FM-306 Common St $2.56 http://www.gasbuddy.com/ http://www.gasbuddy.com/ Valero Corner Store, San Antonio On our way to China Grove yesterday we stopped at this place to get some fuel. Like. How much is gas over there in tejas these days? We are seeing sub $3 gas for the first time in a decade. The oil companies have figured out that people without jobs can't pay much at the pump. I'll enjoy the low prices while they last. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, punditster@... wrote : On our way to China Grove yesterday we stopped at this place to get some fuel. PS there is a Sinclair gas station nearby, with an actual green dino statue out front. Very awesome. I'll try to catch a picture of it today, when I go into the valley. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, fleetwood_macncheese@... wrote : Like. How much is gas over there in tejas these days?
