First, upgraded from Fedora 10 to Fedora 12.
Using Fedora 10 I had sound working.
With Fedora 12 after each boot, there is no /dev/dsp file.
Running modprobe snd-pcm-oss generates the /dev/dsp file.
Is there a way to get /dev/dsp to stick around?
So, no sound.
cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [Intel
alsa-lib-1.0.22-1.fc12.x86_64
alsa-tools-1.0.20-4.fc12.x86_64

Xtreme Audio which is different than before.

Still, the /dev/dsp file has to be re-generated after every boot.

Hi,
since I installed Fedora 12, I realized that I have no more an Analog
Loopback available
in alsa, which allowed me to route the capture sources on my sound card back
in as PCM audio.
I tried upgrading alsa-driver to 1.0.22, but nothing changed. The only
option I have now
is using arecord
I updated fedora 12 some min back wireless started working but my sound card
still not working any one got similar problem after fedora 12 update today?

I've upgraded from F11 to F12 and sound has stopped working at all
(it only ever worked in one of Firefox/flash and VLC).
system-config-soundcard plays ok, lspci shows

Where has sound recorder gone? Seems a bit daft just to get to the point
that one can easily select input from line-input and then remove the
recorder program that uses it! Of course there are others, but recorder
was very quick to use and just save an audio file.

F12, x86_64. I get moving pictures but no sound. With F11 I had both.

my son (the musician) has Fedora 11 installed on an HP HDX-16 laptop.
He wants to record some of his band sessions, we tried using 'sound recorder'
and plugging the output of his mixer into the mic input on the laptop.
It does record but the sound is fuzzy and to say it was poor

In most cases, mixers have a high signal level output for connecting to
line inputs, and the mic input will be over driven

I am on Fedora 10 x86_64, use KDE, and have had sporadic sound issues
for quite some time.
The motherboard is an MSI M-7368 using the onboard sound controller. It
is an ATI 690 chipset. There are two outputs: and HDMI and and an
analog jack. I use analog audio jack
