I suspect the rotisserie chicken would be very similar to the Swiss Chalet.

Re: [Felvtalk] KFC

2016-10-28 Thread Amani Oakley
Robert

I can't even begin to hypothesize why cats seem to like "fast food" chicken. I
found that the KFC is really aromatic, so it encourages my sick cats to eat
when they aren’t feeling well. With the first cat I used it with (who had
pancreatic cancer), she had no appetite. I would cut up the chicken, put it in
the plate, warm it in the microwave, and place it before her on the floor. If
she wouldn’t eat, I would lie down on the floor on the opposite side of the
plate and blow over the chicken gently, to get the smell into my cat's
nostrils. After a few minutes, she would eat.

Currently, as I mentioned, I use Swiss Chalet with I don’t think is available
in the U.S., but I have obtained the same result. I can't say that they
wouldn’t eat chicken I cooked, but I rarely get to cook!

What do you suspect is the magical secret of KFC over cooking regular chicken
at home??  Is it the 12 secret spices??  : )   Perhaps the infusion of frying
oil into the meat??  Frankly, if there was one nearby I'd be happy to forget
cooking chicken for my boys to supplement their diet ( I want them to have a
LOT more moisture and baby food is getting WAY too expensive  Neither are
fans of wet cat foods but I still have another 200 brands to get through : )
Hell... if I didn't have the cats to cook for I probably wouldn't cook at
all.   I put a menu down and they press a paw to their choice...it works
well.

I haven't had any effect from using Interferon on a FeLV cat, but others in
this group have. However, if Skyler's gums are white, it sounds very much like
he is anemic. If the Interferon isn't helping, I suggest a
Winstrol/Prednisolone/Doxycycline regime.

Has anyone used this Interferon before on an FELV cat? I started Skylar on

give him a booster to his immune system so he will hopefully not get sick. I
heard it wasn't as effective after 3 months use. It's 7 days on and 7 days

Hi Kelley,

I?m so sorry for the loss of little Coco. When my Tigger babe lost his
battle at 5-1/2 years, I was devastated. Someone from this FeLV chat
group sent me this poem called Lend Me A Kitten, and I still read it a
lot. It give me a little solace??I hope it helps you and all the
others who have given such good care and still had to go through the
loss.

Lend Me a Kitten

I will lend you a kitten for awhile, God said.
For you to love while he lives, and mourn when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three.
But will you, 'till I call him back, take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief
You'll always have his memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught below I want this kitten to learn.

I've looked the whole world over, in search of teachers true.
And from the folks that crowd life's land, I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love, not think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take my kitten home again?

I fancied that I heard them say 'Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done'.
For all the joys this kitten brings, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may.
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.

But should you call him back, much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
If, by our love we've managed your wishes to achieve,
Then in memory of him whom we loved, please help us while we grieve.
When our cherished kitten departs this world of strife,
Please send yet another needing soul for us to love all his life.

group sent me this poem called Lend Me A Kitten, and I still read it a

Lost my little Coco last night. It was sudden - she was playing and
running around before I went to sleep and when I woke up she was gone.
Probably better for her that way as she didn't have to suffer through
a long protracted illness. Sure does hurt though.

I haven't had any effect from using Interferon on a FeLV cat, but others in
this group have. However, if Skyler's gums are white, it sounds very much like
he is anemic. If the Interferon isn't helping, I suggest a
Winstrol/Prednisolone/Doxycycline regime.

off. We are in the 3rd series. I am having blood work taken in 2 weeks. His
gums were very white so I hope he isn't anemic.

Re: [Felvtalk] Interferon

2016-10-28 Thread Ardy Robertson
I did use Interferon for my Tigger. I also gave it 7 days on, 7 days off,
for about 2 months. I did not notice any improvement from it at all. When I
finally started the Winstrol (other name is Stanizolol) along with
Prednisolone, we got a very marked improvement in his blood work. I have
found out that there is strong evidence that Doxycyclene added to this
treatment regimen can inhibit the duplication of the FeLV virus. Amani could
explain this much better than me.

Has anyone used this Interferon before on an FELV cat? I started Skylar on
that. he is not sick but since the IFA test was also positive, I wanted to
give him a booster to his immune system so he will hopefully not get sick.

Re: [Felvtalk] KFC

2016-10-28 Thread Sherri Godschalk
Robert,
My parents told me that when I was toddler, I would sit out in the garage
with our coon dog Sparky and share his Chuck Wagon dog food with him. One
morsel for him, one morsel for me. How frightening! :-)

Bogey is pretty stubborn about wet food. Once in awhile she will lap at
one and I will think ³Success² and the next time she turns her nose up at
it. I am a twice a week shopper in the cat food aisle at Petsmart. Here is
something interesting. I have been recovering from a major surgery. Since
I couldn¹t really cook for myself for a while, my family purchased a bunch
of Hormel shelf meals for me. Or as I like to call them Space Food. I have
to be pretty hungry to eat one and last week I stuck one in the microwave
and sat down at the table to eat it when Bogey hopped on the table and
next to it and made some attempts to eat it. I moved to another location
and she followed me. It truly was an awful meal but she thought it was her
food I think. So I am going to find out what all is in there to see if
it is safe for her to eat. I sure don¹t want her to have garlic. She was
very excited about it that is for sure.

If I say so myself, I make pretty dam good fried chicken. Cast iron
skillet and all. People in my family ask for it. My cat won¹t touch it.
KFCŠshe LOVES!
