Anyway, since you're volunteering there, maybe you can "talk" to this vet about how inhumane declawing is. You know, it is illegal in Europe, and even California is talking about "outlawing" it. It should be illegal. It's just cruelty, plain simple. And, Sherry, I know you are against it, I'm just having one of my rants Patti

Ah, only a cat would have to put up with a choice between amputation and being homeless. www.catsinternational.org has excellent information on how to train a cat. They've toned down their article on declawing for some reason, but still make some good points in it. Feline Future also has a good article on declawing, without sounding hysterical. Re: Fostering Fiv Cat
I know it can cause litterbox problems and could change their personalities.I also know that she doesn't declaw after a certain age too.I think it should be outlawed too.But I can't just start telling her what's right and whats wrong. She knows what the outcome from the declawing could be.I will have to ask her why she declaws them all,but I believe it is like I said,it makes them more adoptable.(sad as that may be)I hate the claws too,but my first day with Rafferty I was clipping his nails.not all cats will let you do this.My Maizee was a beast when it came to it.Sorry that you all feel so angry about this issue, but I do still believe in her cause. Sad I know, believe me after I found out how declawing was done,I was appalled.a lot of these cats have came in already declawed, could have been very well because of it,who knows.I just try to love them and hope that thay are happy. And from what I have seen they are. Re: Fostering Fiv Cat
Thanks for the link, might be helpful in educating people. I think the declawing should be outlawed too. We really don't get that many people who ask for declawed cats in Arkansas, but there are some and we always screen for that. Re: Check out Feline Miliary Dermatitis ~ Pawprints and Purrs, Inc.
Wow I thought that was informative. thanks Michelle, The cat I took in has a scabby back end, which I thought was due to the cold and damp condition of being locked outside. But recently shes been vomiting hair and undigested food. Which I just assumed shes eating to fast. So thanks for the link. Erin
Re: Happy New Year to All
Hi Dawn, I am sorry to hear that your Charlie has lymphoma. He is so young (and so cute!). I hope that all your questions get answered while caring for Charlie. The people here are great. A lot of the information here is just good general care information for kitties, such as holistic care, supplements for different symptoms, etc. So if you have any specific questions, please ask. Some of us here don't have FeLV kitties anymore as we have lost them, but stay around to help others like you. And the ones who do have FeLV kitties are a great source of current info. and also great support as they can identify with what you are going through. Happy New Year to you and Charlie and I will keep the two of you in my prayers, :) Wendy __ Yahoo! for Good - Make a difference this year. http://brand.yahoo.com/cybergivingweek2005/

When doing a routine vet check, we found that the applicant (who stated very emphatically she would never declaw), had in fact declawed the cat she had adopted from us 3 years prior!! Her application for second cat was denied, and our lawyer did file suit for breach of contract.

Sherry,I'm so sorry. But I am glad that Hardy got to go to a real home before he went to the bridge, even if it was for such a short time. I am sure he loved you for that. It's so sad that there are so many animals that don't have homes. :(tonyaSherry DeHaan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:Hi all, sweet Hardy that I told you all about crossed the Rainbow bridge yesterday,I did get to tell him that I loved him and he purred and purred. He always purred as soon as you would pet him,can he be added to the CLS? Sherry, I'm so sorry for your loss of your sweet Hardy, I know it's hard. So many will be waiting at the bridge to show him the way - including my Pansy, and Prissy, and Lancelot - and my Nicky who died 1 year ago. May you receive showers of blessings for your work with the sick kitties.
