My two youngest, Mack and Monty, turn 4 years old today!!! Monty was
diagnosed with FeLV+ when he was just 9 months old and my vet at the time
wanted me to put him to sleep because he wouldn’t make it. Thankfully I
wanted a second opinion and a year after his diagnosis he tested negative
for FeLV
One of my babies, Monty, was diagnosed at 9 months old. He was incredibly ill
and the vet didn’t think he would make it and wanted me to put him to sleep as
well. I wasn’t ready to give up, so I went to another vet. 3 years 3 months
later, Monty is still with me and have never been sick since

On this subject, how does everyone get rid of their litter? We have 7
litterboxes for 12 cats. We use feline pine and just empty the litter boxes
every 3 to 4 days. The problem is, this ends up being about 4-5 bags of
trash everytime. I am trying to figure out how to reduce the amount of

Another thing to think about, is that if you switch vets now, the new vet
will want to run all the same tests over again.

Sometimes it is hard to completely diagnose what is going on with a cat with
leukemia. There are so many factors to consider. Not to mention, sometimes
the symptoms may point to too many things instead of narrowing it down. I
recently lost one of my cats to a tumor in the eye and nasal cavity.
My positives and negatives having been living together in the same home
without separation for 4 years. So far, no one new has tested positive. My
ones that are positive got the virus through heredity, not exposure.

Just be careful with the peroxide, it can actually prevent proper healing if

My Momma cat has this problem as well only it is much bigger than a quarter.
We tried the shot and many other things, but the main problem we have is
that when it is healing, it itches and she scratches. We have resorted to
putting antibiotic cream on the spot with a piece of gauze covering the ar

Nina,

You have to be careful with vaccinating because there are cases where that has
caused a cat to become positive. That was another thing the vet talked to me
about. She feels that as long as they are indoors, it is not required to
vaccinate as the vaccaine is not 100% guaranteed.

I have 13 cats in a 1000 sq ft home. They all interact and get along with each

and these were hereditary. My vet suggests that I only worry about testing if
any of them become extremely sick, otherwise the chances

I've been told that you cannot share things like this with your pets.
I don't know if I believe it. There have been times when one of my cats
became sick not long after me. The vet swears that you cannot share
between other species (cat to human, cat to dog, etc).
