[Felvtalk] stomatitis
If your cat hs stomatitis, there is a yahoo group for discussing that problem. The group has long discussed a liquid stomatitis syrup that comes from a group in Dallas. Your vet has to get involved with the project and contact the group in Dallas. I can honestly say that I had very serious doubts about the syrup, but it works. My Abbey is FIV+ and orginally tested Felv+, but negative the 2nd and 3rd tests. She had a bad case of stomatitis and is in remission. I do not work for the group, just let people know to check it out with an open mind. I really does work. [Felvtalk] vets un-informed
I believe it is a lot of miss or incomplete info the vets get during training and in college. I have a relatively young vet and he is unaware of how a cat can test positive twice on snaps and now be negative on a deep well. [Felvtalk] Elisa or snap test
Okay, my vet did the 3 way snap in the office with a positive result and I want a re-test. They send the blood to a local vet or lab and do a deep well Elisa. If this deep well Elisa test also has false positives, I will not do it. I can't see wasting money for a possible false positive. I want a test that I can rely upon the results. I would appreciate your advice. I'll have to press the issue or find another vet to do a different test. After the bp mess in the Gulf, I stopped bringing home Gulf fish and sharing cooked fish with the cats. I fear this will be a really bad deal. Many people I have met are terribly ill that worked around it and dive in it or eat Gulf fish. Have to wait until 16th. Rick is off on 9th. He saw her on 2nd- ten days after 14 teeth pulled. I can only get her to eat watered down food such as kitten food, baby food, a/d, some fancy feast. She sits on my lap and eats usually. I got her to eat with a 500 mg lysine mixed in with food twice now. Will add bovine inteferon also tonight. She has a good appetite. Rick said she gained a pound. I have printed your suggestions and will give them to him to read. Thank you so much. Any thing else will be greated appreciated. I have only been her human companion a few weeks, but have gotten very close with her. She rubs noses and jowls now. She is so soft and pretty. [Felvtalk] Abbey
Okay guys we need your help big time. Abbey is felu and fel imun positive. She has stomatitis. Had 14 teeth, roots and all removed 2 wks ago. Mouth greatly improved but not all - in the back between upper and lower still red. Not on any meds for now. She will not lick lysine. Am going to try to water down lysine and get it in her or spread pill powder and mix in food. Would mixing bovine interferon maybe help? I am frantic to help her. She does not deserve this. Cannot pill. Feeding watered down a/d or baby food or fancy feast. She has a great appetite until she hits her sore area with a piece of food. She has 10 days til she goes back to the vet. He is thinking about steriods. Any ideas of what to do? I really don't want to put her on steriods unless nothing else to do. She is the baby that was dumped by my great neighbors and they moved leaving her outside with no food or water or anywhere to sleep unless she crawled under the slab of their house. Abbey is the sweetest loving black cat. We apreciate any help you can offer. [Felvtalk] looking for a home south-east Louisiana
I have a sweet black female felu and fiv positive. My great neighbors dumped her outside without food or water and then left the dump of a house. I fear for her life outside and cannot bring her inside.
