Anyone else run into this?
I have two versions of Finale on my computer. (Mac) 2012 and 2014. I have
two clients, one using 2012 and the other 2014. Opening 2012 in 2014
should not be a problem, but is it possible to launch 2012 and open the
first client's files in that version so that if I
Open Finale 2012 and then open your file from there.

If you right click (or control click) the file, you can choose which
program to open it with. I have versions on my Mac going back to before
they even run, but I can run back to Fin08.

This is a playback question: if I want to have, say, a violin gliss through a
couple of otherwise empty measures, how on earth do I get Finale to play that
back correctly?
If it's not clear: think of one bar in which the violin plays a top string E,
then glisses upward over the next two bars
i never use playback but i suppose you could define the notes
normally and hide stems and noteheads manually or using a staff style.

In a trombone section context, where I wanted a long-note chord progression
played normally the 1st time and glissed the second time I kept the original
notes under the added glisses, which played back as wanted.
In your context write a tied E through the empty bars and let the gfliss go
from

Hello List,
Seeking the collective wisdom... FinMac 2012
After entering the notes into a single measure that repeats multiple times, I
used a Staff Style to insert single measure repeat signs in the following
measures (i.e., looks like a filled in percent sign). When I look at individual
You need something besides the staff style in the measures in order that Finale
not convert them to MM rests. Why not copy the notes in the original measure
into all the following measures and then cover them with the staff style? Once
they are covered with the staff style, Finale knows not to
Also, if you have not yet done this, you will need to break or recreate the
offending MM rests.
