I got a new laptop last year and wanted to run PureData on it (as well as
Finale 2009). Reading around a bit, it seemed to make sense to get ASIO.
That's when my problems started. PD would freeze the machine, while playing
something, so I got a loud continous sound and had to remove the battery
I doubt many of you are on your best game at 5 PM Fridays;-)
I checked today and can use 2012 by rolling back the sound card driver. This is
not a real solution as normal maintenance should not be a disastrous
occurrence.

I don't know if Robert Patterson got an answer to his question from last April,
but I've only now realized there is a bug in the change instrument command.
(Finale 2012b)
If you choose 1 measure, the changes apply to the rest of the staff. If you
select 2 measures or more, the changes work on
It's a feature not a bug! That is, they mean for it work that way, but by
all means write it up:
Workarounds:
1 Change the staff lines with a staff style (which is what I did).
2 It may be possible to select the rest of the staff after the single bar
and change it to the other instrument. I
Yes, that is how it works. If you only want an instrument change for one
measure, just select the measure AFTER the instrument change and set it back to
the first instrument. No worries.
In your case, set the FIRST instrument to something you know before starting,
so you can change it back

I always feel better when I know it is a feature. ;)
It does break the conventions and standards of how the program operates and it
takes away functionality from previous versions, so I will lobby MM for a
change.
