Hi Darcy,
It turns out that what I said in my last post is, in fact, exactly
what I did:
1. show fretboards (fretboard appear for every chord - so you're
right, it is global)
2. turn off fretboards you don't want one by one in the chord
definitive dialogue box.
There might be an easier
Hi Larry,
Thanks. Ouch, that is a bit painstaking if you only want two
fretboards at the top of the chart! But good to know it can be done.

In the old days, I used to create custom fretboards in the shape designer,
assembling them with Seville font characters. For just a couple, that might
still be a viable option depending on the size of your score.

Hi John,
That might be more of a viable option if the Shape Designer was not
completely broken in recent iterations of Finale.

Nice, Allen, that works much better than disabling them one at a time.

I asked this before and didn't get a response:
Is it possible to show fretboards for only selected chord symbols? Or
are we confined to a global all-or-nothing setting?

Its not global.

I think you have to turn the chords off individually, not on as
you would think, Darcy. I know I've done it, and I also remember it
was a bit of a nuisance. When you get it right, the chords still show
up, but they are dim and they don't print. Let me know if that works.
If not, I'll go
