I had a similar but different problem with 2014.5 and OS10.11: th
machine wouldn't remember MIDI mappings. If I had to shut down (which I
did frequently given that I was running an 8 yo MAC), I'd get the rests
too. All I had to do was "rescan MISI" and it was fine, but it was very
I unplugged and then replugged the MIDI interface, and that seemed to do the
trick finally.

When it happens to me, with my USB midi keyboard, I exit Finale, unplug and
replug the keyboard, and start Finale again. It always works

Happens to me periodically, and all I need to do is turn my MIDI keyboard off
and on again to reestablish the connection.

Speaker setup… to see that the controller is recognized. Usually it is and
going through this step re-establishes the midi controller.
Hope this helps.

I have logged out and in several times, have rebooted my computer several
times, and still no luck. Any other solutions? Besides, I rarely, if ever,
leave my synth and/or Finale on for a while unless I’m actively using them.

This happens to me regularly. Fin seems to lose contact with the midi-interface
when left on but not used for a while. Closing Fin and logging out and then in
again (or reboot) usually helps.

I was inputting some notes into a file in speedy note entry with my synthesizer
without any problems. I then shut down Finale for a while, restarted Finale and
opened up the file to continue inputting some notes, and now the only thing I
get when I press a key on the synthesizer and then press
