(Ctrl-2) on a Windows 7 system, I kept getting into a case where I
couldn't apply articulations. It seemed to happen if I was working on
notes toward the left of the screen. I clicked on the notes with a hot
key down and
I have gotten into situations where I have to apply articulations one at a time
rather than to a bunch of selected notes. Finale 2014 in Windows 8.

Make sure you have not accidentally changed the layer you are working in
accidentally. That drives me bananas when I do that accidentally.
