[Fink-devel] List server software for Mac OS X

2002-09-17 Thread ewitness - Ben Fowler
What mailing list software is recommended for Mac OS X? What about Mailman? If I am required by some software to create a suitable user and group, I have found that Mac OS X recommends that the /etc/passwd and /etc/group files are not used; in such cases should I modify NetInfo to use these fil

[Fink-devel] gtk+2 fonts

the gtk+2 package should do RunTimeVars: GDK_USE_XFT: 1 or setenv GDK_USE_XFT 1 So the fonts use xft properly. This enables packages like "gftp" to work without causing "font fallback" errors. It also gives you antialiased fonts. Very nice looking: http://homepage.mac.com/bhines/xchat.png -

[Fink-devel] CocoaFink -- a GUI for managing fink packages

2002-09-17 Thread Brian Landers
So I got this idea in my head, to write a Cocoa-based GUI for managing fink packages (listing, installing, upgrading, etc). At first, I was thinking about something more "fink-like" such as Perl/GTK or Python/GTK, but those all seem to require installing every package known to man (due to the lar

2002-09-17 Thread Olaf Foellinger
Hi, I've tried to prepare a mutt-1.4 package for fink for 10.2. mutt fails to compile because it misses a constant ICONV_CONST which should be defined to 'const'. I'm not s familiar with the source distributions so I don't know where to put this define. I assume it should got into config.h.in tog

Jeff, My suggestion is to make yourself a directory in the "experimental" CVS module, and put the updated version there. That way, people who need it can be pointed to it, but someone who doesn't have the latest fink from cvs won't be messed up. After the next package manager release, you can m
