I know this is OT so I'm marking it so, but I DO want to offer the advice to
anyone interested
You may want to buy the boxed version.
I only mention it because with MM and their site I got into the habit of
purchasing the download version and later on, checking the also send a cd
checkbox for
suggestions though and if anyone feels like proving this
DOES work then you'll find the entire flash community extremely
grateful!

Hi Andy,
Actually there is a way, though I think it's a metaphysical law that
somebody has to say it's impossible before an answer appears.
I had to do this so that folk could copy paste with ctrl-c ctrl-v and have
the text modified before put in atext field but not allow a

First I want to mention that I try not to compare them too much on email
lists because what invariably happens is that somebody somewhere reads the
post, takes a line or two out of context and it becomes overemphasized. Or
somebody compiles all the
Hi Paul,
I know that swf studio has a shell object that allows you to call an execute
function and pass it parameters , but it's that application that will
determine what it can receive. Generally if you launch an application with
parameters after the app name they will get sent to the app, but
Hi John,
Yes, I watch the traffic too and find it interesting, but not really
startling. I wouldn't read TOO much into it. Just so you know, at this time
last year Flashcoders traffic was about the same as Flexcoders, but now it's
about a quarter of Flexcoders traffic as well.
I would trust,
Hi Adam,
I think this is one of the rare opportunities to actually say definitely
not possible.
If you could do this it would be a major security flaw as the .exe could,
say, wipe out a hard drive instead of doing something beneficial.
If somehow you find any way to do this, please notify
Stephen you're misreading the information on that link. MS still
supports win2k they just don't sell NEW oem licences, that's a big
difference. If and when they try to discontinue support, expect some
serious legal reprecusions.
They support it for good reason, if they don't do so (at least
Sorry Steven,
I can promise that I'm not burned up about anything. Just stating what
I think is important.
And I thought you were responding to Pete's comment more seriously
than you apparently were.
And I'm sorry to spell your name wrong.

I'd say Actionscript Cookbook.
Though worthwhile, the topics in essential As2 is are too booring to read in
December. December should be a fun month.

Hi Julian
The good news is that there is definitely a way to fix this. The bad news is
i'm not sure you have been able to describe what is going on well enough for
folk to help you figure it out yet.
First. A question. Is this 5MB swf an animation with graphs or interactive
graphs? If it's an

This is just my relatively uninformed opinion however, i'd love to hear
counterargumentation when it comes to the usability issue.
Hi Andreas,
I enjoyed your rant's but in the end they are reactionary nonsense.
Usability doesn't depend on the technology. It depends on design.
Hi Andreas,
Yes I follow your gist. But what you are arguing for is simple design and
ering on the side of caution, nothing more, nothing that I would dissagree
with either, but having little relation to the Ajax vs Flash choice. Sure
Flash gives you plenty of rope to hang yourself with, but it
