[Flashcoders] Re: Flash CS4 very slow
Thanks Patrick Matte Installing the Flash CS4 update from http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html has fixed the problem I had with Flash CS4 running slowly (and a few other thing). I recommend all Flash CS4 users do themselves a big favour and install this update. Alan Neilsen This message is for the named persons use only. Re: [Flashcoders] Mouse Leave Event
Thanks Karl. I was experiencing the problem on Firefox 3 (running on Debian x64 [its called Ice weasel] , Mac OS X and Windows] . I do not get the issue with Safari 4 on my Mac Pro as well. Thanks for pointing this out [please excuse me for not reading your reply carefully]. Very interesting to see that Flash can detect a mouse_up from anywhere on your screen as long as mouse_down originated within the player without using mouse_leave. Many thanks for the pointers. Re: [Flashcoders] Projector, loaded SWFs and audio files
Hi Eric, are you using as2 or as3? The basic solution is to look at the url of the loading swf, and make your paths relative to that. If you make it a little more complex (but usually some splitting and joining will be enough) you can use something like this: http://objectpainters.com/blog/2007/01/03/where-am-i-relative-paths/ but it's as2. I have an as3 version as well if you need it. greetz JC On Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 3:27 PM, Eric E. Dolecki wrote: > Quick question. > I have a projector that loads SWFs on demand. Re: [Flashcoders] swf doesn't work
Hi Michael Keep in mind that Flash CS3 was released in conjunction with Flash Player 9r45 (9,0,45,0). I can't recall all the differences. But there are certain events such as the ADDED_TO_STAGE/REMOVED_FROM_STAGE event that didn't make it in till at least 9r28. I also believe that 9r28 was the first release that supported all the various OSes and processors including Vista, Mac Intel. There were separate releases that added these features/OS support, but if need to set a minimum target for your content then don't go any further back then 9r28 and if you are using any of the Flash CS 3 features and components, you can't reliably support prior to 9r45 (without a lot of compatibility testing). Unless you have a High speed 16GB SD card and you are using it for readyboost, turn off super fetch, and turn off the windows search indexing service when you don't need it. Prefetch only really works to aid boot time and launching apps if you are using readyboost; otherwise, it causes a great deal of unnecessary cycles and spins on your hd platters and destroys your hard drive in a much smaller timeframe than usual. Search indexing, although very useful, causes a great deal of unnecessary spins on the hard disk, and a great deal of cpu cycles that could otherwise be devoted to your applications. My advice is really just to turn off what ever services you don't need; yet, I can tell you that turning these services off won't harm anything and will help you in the long run. Just about anything I do takes ages to happen. For instance, if I open Properties to type in an Instance Name, when I click somewhere else after that it takes 4 or 5 seconds before I can do anything - it just locks up for those seconds. 4 or 5 seconds does not sound much, but when it happens again and again and again day after day it really slows my work down. RE: [Flashcoders] swf doesn't work
Thanks for responding Jonathan. My only external asset is an xml file, and I write a textfield to the stage if there's an IOError. That's not happening, and all other sprites/graphics are within this swf. It seems to me it's more of an ActionScript error, as if each chunk of code wipes out the previous chunk of code and all I'm left with is the last chunk of code. - MM >Sometimes things that appear to be player issues turn out to be loader issues. [Flashcoders] pay with credit card through Flaxh frontend for online store?
Having built a php/mySQL/Flash online store, I need to send the order details to either another flash module or elsewhere to process a credit card purchase (visa and mastercard) . Would anyone have suggestions as to how to safely do this? I know ssl/ https is involved but how exactly would I connect to a processing agent? Has anyone used ipower for this? Would you recommend them? Thanks for any insights! -Boyd ___ Flashcoders mailing list Flashcoders@chattyfig.figleaf.com http://chattyfig.figleaf.com/mailman/listinfo/flashcoders

Michael, Sometimes things that appear to be player issues turn out to be loader issues. [Flashcoders] swf doesn't work
Hi list... [CS3, dev machine has FP10 installed] I have a swf rendering problem on the pc. Two people are viewing my swf with player 9,0,16,0. When the swf initializes, there are a series of animations that occur where sprites are faded in on the stage. These two people only see the last sprite fade in, without seeing all the other sprites accumulate on the stage. My gut tells me it's a player version issue somehow. I am not sure why they aren't seeing it correctly. I'm publishing for 9, but I'm not sure if it's publishing a 9 build higher than 9,0,16,0. I target 9,0,16 in the html. I'm really puzzled. Thanks for any advice, - Michael M. ___ Flashcoders mailing list Flashcoders@chattyfig.figleaf.com http://chattyfig.figleaf.com/mailman/listinfo/flashcoders
[Flashcoders] Projector, loaded SWFs and audio files
Quick question. I have a projector that loads SWFs on demand. The SWFs are in a subdirectory called "Sections". Each section SWF that loads into the directory loads it's own audio from a folder inside the Sections directory. Works fine on their own, but when loaded into the Projector, the relative path is off as the SWFs loaded into the projector now think they are at the same directory level as the projector and the load audio gets botched. How can I fix this so it works from the SWF themselves as well as within the projector (without embedding the audio anywhere)?
