vector-graphics in there? Or would we have to - as I suspect - take
the animation out into at least photoshop (or video app) to get that

You can mimic drop shadowing (not dynamic) by duping a symbol's artwork,
coloring it dark with a certain opacity, and then doing a Modify >Shape>
Soften Fill Edges...
You could probably fake some of the embossing stuff too.
