Yes, I saw this link and that does not help. In Metro mode only Adobe.com
plays!. I read a lot of questions about that problem in Internet without
any working solution.
I also found another problem. Flash plays only in Desk mode and only from
Internet. If the html with flash runs from my pc flash is blocked and I
should click on the message and unblock it.

If anybody know how to solve the second problem please help.

Just took a quick look at the SO link.

First, if possible, can you use something like LCDS or BlazeDS that
can kind of just handle this for you?

Second, if you want to manually iterate through the list to check the
status of items, remove them, etc, do it backwards. This will keep
your iterator from getting screwed up if you, say, delete the item at
that index location.

I assume that's what's happening, yes, but I don't know how to change that. How
could I set the alpha in

_fire = new BitmapData(865, 92, false, 0xff);

to true for *just* certain bitmap data? I don't imagine that's possible, and
therein, I believe, lies my problem.

Yeah, no such luck, Karl. I forgot to mention I tried every combination to see
what would happen. If there were some way I could catch the values, for
example, coming out of this function:

private function _createPalette(idx:int):void {
_redArray = [];
_greenArray = [];
_blueArray = [];
_alphaArray = [];
for (var i:int = 0; i < 256; i++) {
var gp:int = new int();
gp = _fireColor.getPixel(i, 0);
if (gp < 1050112)
{
_redArray.push(255);
_alphaArray.push(255);
} else {
_redArray.push(gp);
_alphaArray.push(0);
}
_greenArray.push(0);
_blueArray.push(0);
}
}

where I catch the values under a certain numeric value in my if statement with
the var gp, then somehow set the alpha of those values to 0 and leave the rest
at alpha=1, I'd be set, but I can't figure out how to do that.
TIA,
George

I dont think that setting the alpha to true was your problem.
It may not be showing anything because it may be making ALL the
pixels transparent?
Maybe look into that? Also try blendmode overlay. That may help the
opaque pixels lay over the transparent ones. or vice versa
I don't have an example per say, but had the same problem with a php
image creation script I was writing and the blendmode overlay helped

Hi;
I'm trying to tweak a script I found online to work for my

_fire = new BitmapData(865, 92, false, 0xff);

Note
 the alpha flag must be set to false, which is the source of my
problem,

 or nothing prints to screen at all. I need to make certain pixels
transparent. _fire is added to the stage and then called thus:

_fire.paletteMap(_grey, _grey.rect, ZERO_POINT,
_redArray, _greenArray, _blueArray, _alphaArray);

at the end of the script. The colors for the arrays are created
thusly:

private function _createPalette(idx:int):void {
_redArray = [];
_greenArray = [];
_blueArray = [];
_alphaArray = [];
for (var i:int = 0; i < 256; i++) {

_alphaArray.push(255);
} else {
_redArray.push(gp);
_alphaArray.push(0);
}
_greenArray.push(0);
_blueArray.push(0);
}
}

I
 added that if clause to capture when the color is black because
that's
where I need to make it transparent. The problem is that where I
need it
 to be transparent, it's blue (why blue I don't know). Is there any
way

to make it transparent? The entire code follows.

RotateGearsLoaded returns void, not Function. The return value is not a
legal listener. Yet you are calling it here to get the listener to add.

Remember, you are not the one calling the listener, thusly, you can't
decide the arguments.

Hi,

   If you google "Flex + [Embed]" that will give you lots of tutorials,
but simply, the [Embed] meta-tag in AS3 allows the compiler to embed
external assets like images and fonts at compile time... You can use
similar methodology as you do for Flash CS4 for Pure AS3 classesput your
[Embed] code in that, then declare a class for it underneath - you can
instanciate the class in the same code or you can use the
property to include fonts and apply them:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/quickstart/embedding_assets/

   HTH

   Glen

   Example 1, pure AS3:
public class Main extends flash.display.Sprite
   [Embed(systemFont="Aharoni", fontName='TextFont',
fontWeight='bold', unicodeRange='U+002C-U+005A',
mimeType='application/x-font') ]

   private var AnotherClass:Class;

   protected function addedToStageHandler(event:Event):void {

   label = new TextField();
   label.htmlText = "TESTING 123";
   label.embedFonts = true;

   var format:TextFormat = new TextFormat();

RE: [Flashcoders] (no subject)

2010-03-01 Thread Merrill, Jason
You're just on the verge of breaking into a coding architecture question
here, which is good. My suggestion to avoid this issue is to get away
from generic objects as you are doing here and define everything as a
class.

class MySpecialClass extends MovieClip

So you'll never ever use new Object(). You'll use new MySpecialClass()
instead.

Then, you'll want to start thinking in terms of a design pattern - even
just a very simplified version of MVC. For example, have a data class
that manipulares data (i.e. a Model class) - have a view class that
checks what the value is, and changes the MySpecialClass instances
accordingly. How to make that happen? Have a controller class listen
to those instances for when they are clicked on, and when they are, get
the value from the model, and tell the MySpecialClass instances to
change visually.

Hi list,
Suppose I have an associative array like this:
var myArray:Object = new Object();
myArray.item1 = item1;
myArray.item2 = item2;
myArray.selected = false;

item1 and item2 are 2 mc's living on the stage. Selected is a newly
created property on myArray.
Now I want to change myArray.selected by clicking on one of both item
and change the appearance of both items based on the value of
myArray.selected. Is this possible?
In other words: myArray knows it contains item1 but does item1 have a
way of knowing it is part of myArray.

2010-03-01 Thread Geografiek

Thanks Paul,
Sorry for forgetting the subject line. Won't happen again ;-)
You're right about the Object as an Array I guess I can just create
an associative array instead of an object, althoug Moock states that
both approaches are common practice.
I solved (or rather circumvented) my problem by comparing the names
of myObj and the item clicked

Your idea was nice, but it didn't solve my problem.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but I have a lot of 'myArray''s and I
need to know which property 'select' to set when clicking an item ->
the 'select' that is in the same array as the item clicked on.

The theoretical problem remains: myArray knows it contains item1 but
does item1 have a way of knowing it is part of myArray?

Drag a scrollbar on the stage, double click it and change the graphics
for the different states.

Now if you have anything with a scrollbar in your movie, the local
edited copy of the component should override the default graphics.

Try it by adding a text field on stage, setting it to a fixed height,
drag a scrollbar onto it, fill text field with text lines > height of
text field, test movie...

RE: [Flashcoders] (no subject)

2007-06-18 Thread David Ngo
AFAIK, there is no other Button-type class aside from SimpleButton in AS3's
libraries. You could extend SimpleButton and add in a TextField. Then create
a wrapper method to set the text property on your extended button to set the
text on the TextField within.

You need to add the 'var' keyword for your iterator in the for loop. You
also need to change your comparison evaluator to '<' and not '>'. For your
second error, SimpleButton doesn't have a text property you can set. See:

Re: [Flashcoders] (no subject)

2007-05-13 Thread Mick G

I'll elaborate on that so it's actually helpful ;)

Make sure your DIV has an ID

Call a Javascript function that goes something like this

function hideSWF(){
var s = document.getElementById('swfDIVid');
s.style.display="none";

}

if you need it to appear again JS...

s.style.display="block";

RE: [Flashcoders] (no subject)

2007-02-16 Thread Holth, Daniel C.

You need to keep track of the previous x value and compare that to the
new x value. The simplest way to achieve this is an onEnterFrame
function (although note this is the least efficient way).

For example try putting a movie clip called "ball_mc" on your stage and
add this code to the first frame, run it and try dragging the movie clip
around.

var oldX:Number = ball_mc._x;

onEnterFrame = function(){
if(ball_mc._x > oldX){
trace("is moving right");
} else if (ball_mc._x < oldX){
trace("is moving left");
} else {
trace("not moving along x axis");
}
oldX = ball_mc._x;
}

ball_mc.onPress = startDrag;
ball_mc.onRelease = stopDrag;

Hope that helps!

hi, I'm doing something pretty simple, I have a movie clipo which
starts drag, I'd like to move this in the x axis, but I don't know
how to program this to launch an event if the x axis is positive and
other is the x axis is negative,
or simpler how can I trigger an event is the movie clip is moving
right and trigger other event is the movieClip is moving left
any ideas?

so far I'm using this.

var xright = this._x+1;
var xleft = this._x-1;

if (this._x==xright){
launching
}
if(this._x==xleft){
launching2
}

Make sure you are clearing your intervals when you unload each slideshow:

clearInterval( ID );

If you do not, the interval will keep pinging, even if you have
removed the object containing the method it calls.

ComboBoxes draw their dropdowns on the _root. If you lock the root in a
nested clip, they'll draw their dropdowns there. This is why you're
getting z-index problems.

Second, if you're having an issue where _height is not returning the
true _height, then store the original height in a variable and use that.

Here is some pseudocode:

var originalHeight:Number = _height;

function getCurrentHeight():Number
{
if (_height > originalHeight && myComboBoxIsClosed) {
return originalHeight;
} else {
return _height;
}
}

This happens when you use the "star" import construct:

The compiler goes bonkers over that. If you want to ruin it to pieces

Is there anyway to get the label of a highlighted item in a list
component (flash8)? I can get the lable of the selected item by doing
my_list.selectedItem.label but is there something like
my_list.highlightedItem.label??

Hi All,
I'm new to the list and its great!
I am looking for an elegant and simple ( for the client ) xml file
editor.
I'm using filemakerPro to export the xml via an FM_xsl stylesheet, the
being pulled in flash.
This is all good.
I need to offer my client a standalone app so that she can download
edit and upload content.
Currently I have found GoLive to offer the best xml formatting and
editing environment.
But this is way too complex for the client. Any suggestions?

When I get time i'll build a client services end to the site where the
xml content can be edited and saved using
the FileReference Class

Go to the Flash Help Panel and look for "FileReference". You can upload
and download files using this class. "New Class".

yeah i had a look at that and it didnt help too much.

I've been looking at the following formula given in the Help files, I kinda
understand it in principle the only think i dont understand is why when an
offset is found does it scale it down by 256? and also what happens if the
resulting value is not a integer, does it round it to the nearest pixel?

dstPixel[x, y] = srcPixel[x + ((componentX(x, y) - 128) * scaleX) /
256, y + ((componentY(x, y) - 128) * scaleY) / 256]

I have a number of files all with names like
"assessmentitem_15845.xml".

In each of these files, I have to replace a number (always 14772) with
15845 (comes from name of file).

Lieven,

I'm using a batch rename tool on Mac, called R-name. renames
patterns, add stuff, replaces extensions,... I'm sure something
similar is out there for Windows if you're not on Mac. Check
Versiontracker for "batch rename"

Yes. Flash does not automatically have the capability to understand
code that other people write and then be able to do syntax highlighting.
I think you can modify Flash to do so, or you can use a development tool
like Eclipse - don't know if anyone has developed anything for Eclipse
to work more easily with Xpath, but someone may know.

Wherever you import .as files from is where to download them to. Then
you use an import statement in the .fla, like this:

import com.xfactorstudio.xml.xpath.*

Hi Lieven,
I know u understand the difference but just to recall:
setTextFormat applies a textformat to part or whole of the already EXISTING
text in a textfield
setNewFormat sets the default format to be applied to all text that is
ADDED to the text in a textfield

So getTextFormat return the format applied to part or whole of the already
EXISTING text and

getNewFormat returns the format that will be applied to any new text.

Does it mean that a textField has two properties, textFormat and
newTextFormat.
I dont know ;), but i think a texfield can have numerous textformats
applied but only one newTextFormat.

When new text is assigned to a textField, textFormat is set equal to
newTextFormat?

No i think only for the part of text you added.
