Re: [Flashcoders] Swf File Use as Interface for Executable
Kelly, As far as I know Flash can't receive data by any other means than TCP. So your best route would probably be using socket connections. http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveDocs_Partsfile=0318.html Using a socket connection you can transmit real-time binary data back and forth between Flash and your server. Of course, you'll have to get a server set up, which depending on what you need, shouldn't be too hard. Once you get the hang of them, socket connections are fairly straight forward and simple to use. If you're deploying this as an AIR app, you might have some more options, I haven't worked with AIR much so I'm not sure if there is another method you can use. Hope this helped. Re: [Flashcoders] Swf File Use as Interface for Executable
Kelly, I suggest you look into the sources of SWHX (Screenweaver HX). This embeds and wraps Flash movies by using the Flash Netscape Plugin (i.e. the plugin used by Firefox). It's open source - it is used by the haXe language, but the embedding code is written in C. http://haxe.org/com/libs/swhx From what I remember, the bulk of the communication is done between the wrapper and the SWF using Flash's ExternalInterface rather than using sockets as Taka suggests. Hope that helps, Ian On Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 11:09 AM, Kelly Snyder ksnyder1...@hotmail.com wrote: Does anyone know what the underlying technology is behind programs like Zinc?
