Try using Linux with flashrom and see if it is successful

Hi there! What's your chip model, and are you sure that your flashing setup
is reliable enough? Best regards, Ivan

distros, and also this issue could depend
on your local configuration and not reproducible i.e. on a fresh
Devuan install. Maybe try a Devuan LiveCD and see if it happens there
too?

Hi there Alexey,
Looks like you have a problem with your libusb library. Please
reinstall the libusb library (you may have to build it from source, if
your distro's libusb is broken at the moment - if that's so, make sure
to --enable-shared).
Best regards,

Please clarify your problem, what makes you think there is a virus, etc.

You've said these Quanta boards are a part of the OpenCompute project.
That means, instead of looking for a proprietary BIOS workaround,
these OCP boards - to match the OCP certification - should be ported
to open source firmware (most likely, coreboot BIOS), considering the
new requirements of

I'm curious: Please tell, how you clear these CMP and WPS bits? What
command do you run to do this?

Out of precaution: just in case, if you have a multimeter to measure
the voltages of the CH341A's output pins, please measure them (VCC and
each of data pins individually, versus a GND pin) before connecting to
a real chip.
Read a message "[PATCH] sb600" - it may be helpful to you

You need to 1) get a .bin file somewhere (BIOS ROM) - either from the
owner that has the same laptop, or from your laptop's company. 2) get
a test clip like SOIC8 , to attach to a BIOS chip without soldering
and flash it

While doing the internal flashrom operations, that BIOS chip is
situated behind a southbridge that you find by AMD FP4 name. Looks
like either its' support isn't good enough at flashrom or UEFI
firmware / EC controller somehow disturb the operation. Maybe try to
access a BIOS chip directly with
Well, maybe your flashing setup is not reliable, and even such a small
error (some bytes) could break a BIOS feature - that maybe you are not
using currently, so right now can't tell if anything is wrong... I'd
recommend improving your flashing setup (shorter wires, maybe a more
reliable CH341A
- type "SOK-SPI-16W" at their search field if you are interested.
And to find SOIC8, write "SOK-SPI-8W".
These sockets could be very useful for routers or laptop motherboards,
although you need a steady hand or ask professional to install them
for you.

You may try to flash this image directly using flashrom, not using
someone else's scripts because they might be faulty...

Sorry for late reply. Yes, it looks like your connection is bad.
Try using the shorter wires, and hopefully of a good quality
( e.g. pure copper wires could be 1.5 longer than the cheap aluminium wires
and still have the same conductivity given the same internal thickness )
You have mentioned
Hi Aadu,
Maybe it doesn't support the "internal flashing", but it should be
always possible to tear down your laptop, and - using CH341A USB
programmer (its' supported by flashrom) together with SOIC8 test clip
- attach directly to the BIOS chip and flash it directly without any
soldering! Its'

These patches are adding the support for KB9012 reading / writing,
the only open source flashing solution for these embedded controllers
Merging these patches could accelerate the development of Origami EC
libre firmware,
please do it

Hi ondrej, I think that - to reliably determine that reading is truly
done without errors,
its needed to read at least two times and then compare the checksums
of read files
Also, you haven't told us - where is this chip located? are you trying
in-system programming?
if yes, make sure that the

Hi Yaron, please read about the In-System Programming. It could be
that the peripheral devices of your motherboard are consuming some
percentage of the power that was aimed to power a BIOS chip during the
access - because of that, there is not enough power for a BIOS chip
and your attempts are
