The only dumb question is the one where you worked at understanding and
when you ran into a road block, you did not ask for help and got
frustrated. This was not dumb because I am sure others are making the
same mistake and you did work at it and then asked. That is my

Dale,
DUHH, I guess I need to learn how to read. I read spectrum, tanslated
it in my mind as spectrum analyzer, and promptly set up the pan
adapter. Thanks for your patience. Bob, please ignore my dumb inquiry.

Al,
I've done some tentative receive measurements on a Flex 5000. With a
digital scope I monitor WWV symultaneously on an analog radio and on
the Flex, and measure the tick delay.
At 48k/256, with 4096 FFT, I get around 230ms latency. CW turnaround
takes 50-100ms additional. CPU utilization i
Found these in the drawer, don't fit anything I have right now.

Tom,
Actually, as Bob noted you can do exactly that, but you must use the
"Spectrum" mode of the display, rather than the "Panadapter" mode. You
may need to optimize the max/min dBm levels displayed via the Setup >

Dale,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, that occured to me and I actually set up a
tone and tuned across it and did that. I thought Bob was describing a
way in which one could actually see the filter shape by using noise,
much like you could view a filter by exciting it with a noise source and

Out of concern and curiosity, I decided to measure my TX Latency from
mic input or VAC input through PowerSDR. to the TX I & Q signals.
The hardware: SDR-1K, AMD 3300+ CPU 1gb ram (CPU utilization < 10%) ,
on board sound card, D44 sound card & Ozy/Janus sound card.
The software: PSDR 1.10.3,
Tom,
You could set up an XG1 or XG2 outside the passband of the filter, then
tune the radio so that the signal from the XG1 sweeps into the passband
and out the other side, while you write down relevant frequencies (from
the VFO display) and dBm amplitudes (from the s-meter). Then do your

Eh? We'll just have to see about that prediction. I'll be driving north to
see family near Dallas with the hordes of longhorn fans this weekend. After
last weeks "performance" by both teams, it should be a good game, but I
suspect the traffic will be awful.
May the best team win! Hook 'em hor
LOL Ha, you waited till you got your radio before saying "Go Sooners".
UPS has mine enrouteso guess I can say "Go Sooners, Beat the Longhorns!"

Well..My new radio came yesterday..easy to download
software and plug in radio ..on the air in less than
20 min...Everything works great..made a lot of
contacts last night and today with all great reports...
I use a 3.4 with P-4 and 3 gig of ddr...no drop outs
and cpu is running around 20-25%..

Jerry,
We removed the vendor / part number specific information from the KB article
because either vendors would stop carrying the cards or a card would be
retooled with a different Firewire driver chipset without notice. Since we
could not guarantee that the specific chipset information would b

Help, I've looked at the KB, I've searched Google and I'm still
confused. I keep finding VIA, NEC but not Lucent chip sets or if I do
they are out of stock. I know we went to a lot of trouble not to send
us directly to a vendor, but I'm unsure. Will someone give me a few

Thanks for the tips.
Found gadgets.
Running PowerSDR as administrator causes the cpu indicator to appear.
