but if you check the notes, the K3 top measurement was phase noise
limited and needed the 200 Hz 5 pole filter. no such issue with the 5000A.

many would ever encounter a situation where the

I doubt it.
The results would depend to a large extent on the quality of the sound
card used.

Line Out in near real time so that it could be also be processed by another

Seems like you can only get the processed/filtered audio out in real time
though it is possible to record the raw I/Q.

I am using the 5000A and I inserted the key into the key jack of the
5000A. It is a stereo 1/4 for the iambic key. The problem I am
experiencing is in iambic mode it is very erratic to the point it is
unusable. Per the manual I have primary set to 5000, secondary set to
cat, ptt set to dtr,
single instance of the 'didn't return to receive' anomaly.
I didn't have it often, but did experience it in pileups.
Unfortunately, condx are real poor and I had to call stations a lot of times.

Same problem here. This has been mentioned on the reflector a couple of
times and it may be a contact bounce problem that needs to be addressed.
Send in a bug report. If conditions are good on the flex net this afternoon
I will bring up the problem.

I could hear a VERY WEAK signal at 10123.065.
But the signal was under a stronger constant tone, I could hear the tone and
see a spike in the panadaptor.
They would occasionally rise up enough to copy but the tone stayed constant.

As you are probably aware, Larry gets his data from the controller
port of the steppir which provides a constant polling of the
controller frequency, etc. Using the radio port, the steppir
controller only issues status polling requests based on the radio type
you define in the settings
I have both radios now and used them in the just ended DX contest. I did
lots of a/b comparisons.
Let me tell you (from my perspective) nothing beats the audio and visual
input to the brain. With the 5000 narrowed down to 100Hz or less, it was
unbeatable.

I did the same this weekend with a borrowed K3, which is a very nice rig;
however, you can't beat the 5K for clarity when the signals are in the
noise.

There must be a well kept secret to successfully use cw on the 5000a. I
have tried both - paddle directly into the 5000a and a keyer. In either
case I have found the cw gets hosed up e.g. a dash becomes a lng
dash or a dit doesn't. This is frustrating to say the least because I
can not

The 5000A definitely has problems with the CW key input.
When using an external keyer or straight key it's important to wire
only the tip and leave the ring unconnected. Sleeve to ground of
course. See comments on this elsewhere on this reflector.

Nice to hear another SKCC member is using the FLEX-5000A.
Ditto on all the symptoms you are experiencing. I have the same problems and
haven't found a solution, but only a work around. I use a COM port on my
motherboard for CW input. Many motherboards today don't have any serial
ports
