FLEX-1000?
Do you mean the SDR-1000 with the FlexRadio specific USB to parallel adapter?
If you are using anything other than the USB adapter sold by FlexRadio it will
not work.

I took the plunge and updated my version 4.0 HRD to version 5.0 and wanted to
see if anyone else running a Flex has done so and what sort of problems they
are having.
Problems I have encountered so far:

Oh, I can see lots of confusion forming here. Actually the issue of
"roofing filters" is reasonably easy to understand. In fact, the Flex
radios actually have roofing filters! (SURPRISE!) Now before everyone
leaps on their keyboard to tell me how wrong I am I am going to add
here that:

A roofing filter is "tuned" to a particular frequency of the IF stage it is
employed at. A preselector is a variable frequency and Q filter at the antenna
input. A filter is a filter is a filter. :-)

So, to prove that I am a better devil's advocate than I am technically
competent:
How (functionally) is the preselector different than a roofing filter? I
understand that they work differently, but in the end wouldn't either
accomplish the same thing?

Frank, Answers below in line,
Two Questions:

Great information and discussion folks. My curiosity has been peaked even
more. Hmmm, a flexwire aware preselector.
Now this is what I like to read in this reflector. I can smell the smoke in
the minds of the Flexers now : )
Keep those wheels turning.

Interesting.
A FlexWire "aware" preselector that would follow the frequency would be a
really cool gadget that could be used on any FlexWire equipped SDR. Add a
small circuit to switch it out of the RF signal path during TX and you would
not necessarily have to use it on the RX loop.

I really don't think that a traditional "roofing filter" would help out the
FLEX 5000's, but what might be an interesting idea would be a very tight "RF
Preselector" like we use to use in the fixed military HF sites around the
world. The preselector is basically a very tight HF Filter at the ac

Am I right that the main difference between the TMATE and the SHUTTLEPRO
is that the TMATE always controls the radio even if the window is not

and the Shuttlepro only works in the selected window ?
