As for frequencies, 50.125 is a calling freq for SSB---freqs in the range from
50.1 to 50.150 are for SSB.
For CW, good freqs are 50.07 to 50.1. Beacons range from about 50.04 to 50.07.

Why is it that my SDR-5000 receives 6 meters fine on ANT 1 or ANT 3? Will it

I work a station in Ohio (W8IF) daily from my QTH in Southwest Florida, (950
mile path) seven days a week on a schedule. I use an SDR5000, a HB 6 meter
amplifier (1000 watts) and a good 6 meter yagi. I also use an Advance Receiver
Research 6 meter receiver preamp. ($80) With the BNC RX1
I have yet to hear a 6 meter signal. Have the 5 element beam at 85 feet
coming in to ant 3 and I've switched the 5000 to ant 3. Monitor all day
with nothing heard. Talking to my friends on 75 who work 6, the last 3 days
they have been working many stations. Perhaps I'm doing some thing wrong?
Make sure the AGC-T gain is not set too low.

I have a similar problem -- I have heard nothing on 6 meters. I do see a lot
of spurs.
As a quick test I checked to see if I got local TV channel 2 Video 55.25 Mhz
and audio 59.75 -- I received both, but the signal
6 meters is called the magic band.. because it can do magic acts...
open and close at random, at almost any time..
people 20 miles down the road may not be able hear the guy thats s9 at
your station...
it is not uncommon to go many days with never a peep of signal on 50.125...
