I think these effects look great.
As for the urban map, you could possibly do something with a transition
between this effect and actual models, as this effect obviously looks poor
from close up, while models kill framerate for large areas.
Good job, and I hope to see an improved version of this

Very nice. Very nice indeed. The urban area in video #2 especially is
a dramatic difference.
How do the effects look when you get close to the ground?

Actually I think it might be a problem with kr-87.cxx , but I havent quite
sorted that out yet ... as far as the ADF needle goes .
Even with power , it doesnt appear to come alive until you toggle the ADF
button on the radio .
I dont see the nasal errors your reporting .
I'll keep digging .

Now here you can see an example how a modified Allerta could probably do

Alex,
Terrasync doesn't stop itself if nothing comes from the socket. I am
going to make it global and close it in the handler.

The latest CVS of the A380 has some cool FMS functions including the
ability to use SIDs and STARs. The README calls for SID/STAR databases
to be downloaded separately and saved in $FGDATA/Aircraft/A380/FMS as
.xml.
To avoid duplication when other aircraft get FMS capability, would it
make sense t

Drat, true. A simple write() would be fine, given what I'm using it for.

Attached patch replaces the stream with a single direct call to
write() inside the signal handler; someone Windows based might want to
give it a look before committing. I also removed references to std::
which are they're superfluous after "using namespace" directive at the
top.

Whoops, I'm a bit late with my comments, but all the same...
You can't safely use C++ stream functions in a signal handler.
Why does terrasync need to be protected from interruption like this? Does
the SVN update really get corrupted if it is interrupted?

A separate GUI would be complicated I think, or at least lots of redundant
work, given that FlightGear already has much of the required code in place.
