I can't check. The server seems to be down ATM. Maybe that's your
problem?

Done... well, everything except for the removal of the files under src/hyph.
I keep getting the message 'nothing known about src/hyph/whatever'.
Any ideas on what I'm overlooking?

Yes, that's ok. Just do it (TM). :-) It's only the non-inline level
layout managers that I'd like to put under a certain amount of
protection. Everything else can be changed at will.

I've currently prepared everything for changes to the maintenance branch as
well as the trunk. Changes to build.xml and startup scripts have just been
committed to the maintenance branch. Do the xdocs have to be updated in this
branch as well (the hyphenation.xml is rather minimal in comparison to the
trunk version)?
Is it OK to commit the changes to the trunk right away, or is it safer to

Simon: if you need the JAR with the compiled patterns, I can send them to
you if you'd like (or you can field-test my changes by updating your sandbox
for the maintenance branch and running ant with the 'hyphenation-jar' build
target, should be a piece of cake).

Andreas

Re: Updated OFFO 'site'

2005-03-21 Thread The Web Maestro
I've re-uploaded the offo site with the changes[1]. I've also
re-uploaded the SOURCE files[2]. All you have to do to generate the
site, is download the Forrest distribution, follow directions (e.g.,
set $FORREST_HOME), switch to the extracted offo.zip directory, and
type the command:

  forrest
This will re-build the HTML. If you want to run it with jetty (nice if
you want to see LIVE changes), the command is:

  forrest run
(Of course you'll have to run just 'forrest' if you want to build the
HTML to publish on a site).

A couple of notes:
- I could only get forrest to put the SourceForge.net logo w/ project
id on the first page, so I manually inserted it on the 2nd
- I had trouble getting the OFFO on the front page, so I
manually inserted it
NOTE: If you re-generate the site, you will lose those additions.

Cheers!

Simon, if you want to make this LIVE, let me know. I can update the
site to accommodate the changes (primariliy the removal of hyph files
from FOP site) zip up the files, and get them to you if you like.
These are nice looking pages. A few comments:
I prefer to have the OFFO logo to the left, and dominating the
head.
The sourceforge logo must be added to the page, with the exact src URL
as shown on the OFFO home page, containing the project ID. This is a
requirement of sourceforge, and it allows them to collect statistics.
The entries in the navigation box should be: Home, Hyphenation,
Download... I prefer Home over Introduction. The About entry is the
same as the Hyphenation entry, and it should not be the main entry.
In the text of the Hyphenation page there should three paragraphs.
The left hand column of the license section is too narrow; the line
'Original file name' is wrapped.
I would indeed like to make this design live. It will make the site
good looking. I will upload it if you send me the zipped
package. Please, also send me the source files; I will place them in
the home directory of the OFFO project on the sourceforge server.

I'll remove the FOP logo completely (per Jeremias' comment). It's
enough to just have links (perhaps in the sidebar on the left--a
veritable "related links" section)

The sourceforge logo must be added to the page, with the exact src URL
as shown on the OFFO home page, containing the project ID. This is a
requirement of sourceforge, and it allows them to collect statistics.
Actually, the link is in the source files (underneath the "built with
Forrest" button, which 'sometimes' appears when I view the mini-site).
But of course, it *has* to be there, and it will be...

The entries in the navigation box should be: Home, Hyphenation,
Download... I prefer Home over Introduction. The About entry is the
same as the Hyphenation entry, and it should not be the main entry.
I'll make the changes.

It occurs to me that we may be exhibiting too much of an affiliation
with FOP and Apache (logos and links). Apache projects are supposed to
run on Apache infrastructure only (several problems were brought up in
Incubator over time). I'd prefer if this could be reduced a bit. Just a
feeling

Again: Nice job!

WRT the updates on the FOP-site: I have been busy updating our own
'src/xdocs/hyphenation.xml' to reflect the new situation (commit is probably
for tomorrow, along with: updated 'build.xml', updated startup scripts,
removal of the patterns currently still in the repository)

I still have one non-urgent question remaining about the 'hyphenation.dtd':
the location on the OFFO website? For the moment, I have moved the DTD up
one level to 'hyph' instead of 'src/hyph', and made FOP's Hyphenation page
indicate that location. I guess we can always change this later on.
