Are people using FOP to generate pdf documents for commercial
purposes? How successful has this been. What are the cost
savings of this route?
Hi Andy,

We have used FOP (since 0.18) for all
of our report and document generation and have been very happy with the

Before you point the finger at FOP I suggest you look at the XSL-FO

If you're embedding a TrueType font in a PDF and use that, you lose the
ability to copy from the PDF to the clipboard. That's because Acrobat
cannot extract the text because FOP does not generate a particular table
that is needed for that to work. I assume this will also affect

software. I wrote an xml based documentserver [1] which is using fop (0.20.5)
for printing and previewing reports.
We have printed about some 10,000 invoices, orders and all kind of business

Jeremias,
Are there any plans to support OpenType fonts in FOP? Do you know what
the scope of the effort would be?

Hi all,
Got the following error while trying to build the latest from trunk.
Let me know, if any pointers to fix this.

FOP processes the images in several steps. At first, it reads the
dimensions of the image in order to determine how it fits in, then
the real image content is processed. It may happen

Thanks. Deleting the build directory solved the problem, but I am running
continously into another issue. My machine just crashes down and turns-off while
running standard layout engine tests(junit-layout-standard target). Tried a few
