Dear Russ Framers,
I tried MIF washing, and book updating, all to no avail.
I suspect it's a nasty bug, but one that only a few people will experience.

Hi everyone
I'm thinking about moving to the TCS subscription model (please don't all flame
me at once).
Does anyone know what'd happen if I wanted to change back to outright ownership
in a couple of years? E.g. If I stayed on the subscription model until TCS6 was
released, would I then be
Here's one of those nefarious colour questions ;)
I'm using FrameMaker 11, although by the looks of the dialog I've got on my
screen, these settings haven't changed since at least Frame 5.5 ;)

I think the only way to get a definitive answer is to ask Adobe.
I suspect that by the time we get to TCS6 the only way will be with a
subscription model. As long as the annual fee is not more than we're
used to paying for our regular upgrades (depending on how often you
upgrade of course)
Switching back to an owned version won't be an issue: in a couple of
years TCS will be subscription-only. That's the path Adobe took with
Creative Suite-- first year or two subscription was an option, soon
it will be mandatory. They get more $ by forcing all users to
Nobody--including Adobe--can say with any certainty that perpetual licenses (as
opposed to monthly or annual subscription licenses) will even exist in a couple
of years. Do you think that anybody could have told you two years ago what the
terms would be for a TCS subscription license today? If
? They get more $ by forcing all users to upgrade with each new release
whether they want to or not, so barring the CS subscription-only model causing
mass migration to other products (sadly, not likely), TCS will go the same path.
I suspect that you are correct that mass migration to other
If you include the graphic as an EPS file, it gets passed around the
Windows GDI. So Windows won't RGBify it and will leave CMYK and Pantone
intact.

David, define your color as Pantone 390C, specify spot color, and use the CMYK
representation as the definition.
Arnis may jump in to explain when Windows stopped bolloxing the colors, but
with Win7, you should have no problems with the file.

My crystal ball's off for repairs. Thought I'd see if anyone else had a
functional one.
More seriously, I hoped that the people who are already on the TCS subscription
might have got answers to this kind of question. Guess I should've mentioned
that in my original post, sorry.
Cheers
Rebecca
I think you are overthinking this. You'll notice that if you choose Pantone
Uncoated that the suffix is CVU. Take them at their word. Computer video is
never coated or uncoated. I'm not even sure how they would do that.

Hello Fellow Framers,
Is anyone successfully using the TCS1 package (or Frame 8) with Acrobat XI?
Are there any gotchas or known issues I need to watch out for?
I am using TCS 1 (FM8) with Acrobat Pro 9 on a Windows 7, 64-bit PC (recently
upgraded) with no troubles creating FM to PDF output.
Adobe has something of a captive market with InDesign. The same isn't
true for FrameMaker and RoboHelp.

Quark XPress is also an alternative, was around 1-12 years before Adobe
created InDesign. It's quite good.

nterweb appears to suggest this means "Computer Video"? Is that not
something different? I am confused! Why doesn't it just say "C" for the
suffix?
